My dad’s not driving anymore and I don’t have a desire to keep it (to long legged).
84 Toyota SR5, 22r motor, 5 speed manual, AC and moonroof. It’s in good shape.
I’ve been told that they are a desirable model year but I don’t know? Thanks cheers

$15k? I was thinking like $500, I must not know anything. “Good shape” is subjective, it looks like rust on the tailgate.

I had a 86 sr5. I think 86 is when they went to cv axle instead of the solid axle front end. In the mudding community yes those are looked for. Jack em up put 35s and maybe a small block if you are mechanically inclined. Fun trucks and damn near unstoppable. I bought mine for 5k. Drove it 6 years, sold it for 5k with 202k miles on it. Find a 4x4 community to post it on.

There's a significant fan following for older Toyota PU's in Cali. I have a '98 and have spent a lot of time online looking up parts. Like they said on the opening of the Beverly Hillbillies : "California is the place you want to be".

Also a niche market down in the Big Thicket in SE Texas.

OK, I just did a quick search on the interwebs and saw several 1983-1985 asking high $20K's. The 4WD is a plus. I'd ask $20K and see what happens unless you're just trying to dump it.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

There’s a little surface rust but nothing major. It’s pretty dry humidity wise in this area so major rust isn’t a big issue.

Brian is right. Do a quick search on BaT, it’s worth 15k if it doesn’t have any rust or very minor rust. Anything 4x4 from 1980s has gone thru the roof.

Little over 200k on the truck. Less than 50k on the motor.

Great truck. I don’t know what you’ll get for it, but I bet it’s a lot.

I had an 85. that thing was bullet proof. I totaled it. Bought it back from insurance @ 3% put a front clip on it and drove it 5 more years.
