As I've gotten older, I do it more than I used to. Maybe it's a respect thing, maybe it's because I'm not in as big of a hurry, maybe I'm more considerate than I was. Do what feels right to you. This

Yes, if someone is courteous to hold the door open…you walk even quicker and with a slight nod and thank you as you slip through the door. There is a shared responsibility to keep good manners going forward.

I'll hold the door if not holding the door means closing it in their face. That means 5, maybe 6 feet and then I think they're not disabled so open the door like I did. Wimmin and old folks get the courtesy wait and open with a smile.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

Manners are becoming a relic of the past, much like Woodrow I hate rude behavior in a man. I won't tolerate it.

I do not believe the good manner rules of the elevator are equal to the good manner rules on the street. I walk straight into an empty elevator and push the door close immediately.

I do it all the time and other men do it for me. Just common courtesy, try it some time.

I'm now at the age that people are holding the door open for me.

I almost don't care how far away they are, I'll hold the door. If I'm in too big of a hurry to offer someone basic courtesy, my priorities are off base.

Seems kinda weird when I'm like 20 ft away and some dude is standing there holding the door open for another dude. Not sure I completely understand the issue. Was it the door to a bathroom stall at a rest stop?
