I want a Cane Corso. Beautiful dogs.

Thatโ€™s frightening as hellโ€ฆbut funny the way you tell it.
My grown son had some huge pits with small kids there and they scared me.

that's scary ---
a while ago --like decades --in San Fran . There was this crazy liberal lawyer lady and her husband had two of them . Lived in an Apt . These dogs terrorized the neighbors in the hallways . Police called several times --- and the lawyer lady used the system to let her keep her dogs . One day , something triggers these two dogs as an elderly lady came out of her Apt , they ripped her to shreds and stood over her dead body and guarded it ---like a prize

a person who protects these dangerous breeds.

I think people who own these breeds should be accountable for the dogs actions, when people are hurt by the dog.

Well one things for sure whether itโ€™s a shep or a pit or a Rottweiler, if you apply great force with a large chain in in area of the nose, mouth, skull, or back when they are aggressive it seems to work better than saying sit boo boo sit.

I guess I don't get the pit bull hysteria. There are on average 43 Americans killed by dogs each year. About 60% of those are killed by pit bulls or groups of dogs that include pit bulls. That means about 25-28 people are killed by pits in the average year.

I guess it's the accountant in me, but running the numbers tells me I have a 1 in 14 million chance of being killed by a pit bull. That seems likely because I have never known of anyone killed by a dog, much less a pit bull. I remember when Lotto Texas started the tickets said there was something like a 1 in 15.6 million chance of winning. Coincidentally, I also never won the lottery.

On the other hand, we did get slammed into and our car totalled by a guy who was texting last November. I'm not planning to start a campaign to eradicate cell phones...or eye liner...or bags of French fries...or crying or misbehaving children in back seats. I guess I believe there is no such thing as life with zero risk. I don't think I would want to live it if there was.

Getting mauled isn't great either.

Annual Odds of Being Murdered in the U.S.
The U.S. had approximately 21,000 homicides in a recent year.

U.S. population โ‰ˆ 330 million

Annual odds of being murdered:

โ‰ˆ0.0000636ย orย 1in 15,700

๐Ÿ• Annual Odds of Being Injured by a Pit Bull
Estimated pit bull-related bite injuries requiring medical care:
โ‰ˆ 300,000 to 480,000 per year

U.S. population โ‰ˆ 330 million

Annual odds of being injured by a pit bull:

1 ๐‘–๐‘› 690

โœ… Conclusion:
You are far more likely to be injured by a pit bull in a given year than to be murdered in the U.S.
Roughly 10 to 20 times more likely, based on estimated rates.
