Steak and Ale was swanky back in the day. We didn’t know what a high end steakhouse was.

Clary's on Galveston island. The owner started out as a bus boy and bought the restaurant. There were pictures of celebrities and even ex presidents with Mr. Clary on the walls. After Mr. Clary died his family ran it into the ground. Then Ike took what was left.
Best seafood I've ever eaten. Wade, the bartender at Clary’s for many, many years, made a memorable Old Fashion!

The Hamburger Bar in Palestine.
Chips Burger Village also in Palestine.
Coffee Landing at lake Palestine
Loved those places growing up. To say the Hamburger bar didn't make it isn't really fair, I think 70 or more years is a good run. There just aren't places like that any more.
I think all the old Pit Grills are gone too. Waffle house before waffle house.

EB's was great BBQ back in the day, even after it burned down once. (or twice ?) If you had a bad morning fishing, at least you knew you were gonna have a great lunch.

Steak and Ale although some may reopen. Bonanza Steak House in Austin was good. Some of the Sizzlers were good also.
