Look good to me. Have you used your fertilizer solution on them? I will be using masterblend but I used miracle gro transplant formula on seedling at half strength and it made a world of difference.

Haven’t yet no. I’ve heard different things about fertilizing seedlings. I’m open to suggestions. I’ll check out what you mentioned thanks!

Your plants look healthier than mine did. I have always heard the same, but I have never used oasis or rockwool before either. I don’t want to kill your plants so mix a weak solution.

I had 96% germination with oasis. Less work and mess with most media and cleaner. I dosed up all my seedlings this morning and I can tell a difference.

I should mention I water all my seeds and plants with water from my koi pond so it’s already fairly nutrient rich. Grok tells me that might be good enough to skip fertilizing the seedlings. I think I’m gonna go ahead and move 2 of the seedlings to the pond today and compare with the rest. From what I understand it’s best to wait until there are 2 sets of true leaves but I like bucking conventional wisdom when I can. Don’t have room for all of them anyways.

The snap peas that I didn’t put in the pond I transplanted in the garden outside just for Ss n Gs and I’ve noticed the pond ones are doing much better and growing substantially faster. Most of my peas were direct sowed but this experimenting is fun.

Here’s my “pond”. It’s more of a glorified aquarium but at 400g total it’s no child’s guppy tank. Gonna be investing in quality grow lights eventually but for now there is enough sun for kale and peas I think (or hope).

That’s a neat setup. I’m using shop lights from rural king, 6k lumens right above plants. They are led so very little heat. I think they are $20 each. I will start hardening 4 trays off today, around 570 plants. Got four more trays sprouted to take their place. My brassicas will go into ground next week, onions possibly this week once I know more about weather this weekend.

Thanks. It’s a work in progress and there’s a lot more to do. The important part is that the fish are thriving and the water is crystal clear. The aquaponic experiments are just for fun.

I’ve been toying with the idea of a floating island in the middle of the pond with a mini ecosystem on the island. Like a floating ant farm sort of thing. That could be fun. Wonder what other critters could live on it?

Can’t help myself sometimes. Another experiment; this time it’s aquaponic spinach. I don’t know why I’m so captivated by aquaponics but I am.

Interesting stuff. Reading up on rock wool I believe your water is providing the nutrients needed, my experience with oasis is fertilizer every three days. The plants look great now but I’m still skeptical. I have backups on the way in case a total failure. This year I’m running Dutch buckets, coco grow slabs and bags, and in ground garden. I will have some raised beds but I’ve tried them for over 20yrs and they barely produce enough for my family, no where near enough for expenses.

28 of 30 potatoes have sprouted so far!

Carrots finally popped after dang near a month in the ground.

Carrots need to be covered or else sun will burn them up as they sprout. Cardboard is good.

my new garden spot; 30 x 50 / 7 rows; soaker hose for each row; not happy with the onions on the right side, but i had no time to prep the soil this year;
left to right - 3 rows corn / 1 row peppers / half row maters / half row squash / 1 row beans / onions
fabric bought at Sam's; $30 / 225ft; weed control; plant area is about 8 inches; test run this year
