Let's be honest here, a powerless, slap hitting first baseman that benefitted from being on some good teams that were carried by better players and played in an era when the Game wasn't that great anyways.

Who cares if he bet on baseball. Truth is, he was all hat and no saddle.

I say no to you, Mr Pete Rose. No HoFer

I don’t remember if he did while playing
But he did while managing the reds

Said he never bet on them as a player, only as a Manager. And then never bet on them to lose, only yo win.

Just say you don't know anything about baseball. We understand.

Pete played every position except pitcher, catcher, and shortstop in an MLB game... He was an All Star at second baseman, left fielder, right fielder, third baseman, and first baseman... He was a World Series MVP in 1975... Yeah just a run of the mill a powerless, slap hitting Rookie of the Year, 3 time batting title, 3 time World Series winner ball player.

Again he agreed to a Lifetime Ban... He's dead as a doornail... His life is over, the ban is over... Now let the vindictive Baseball HOF who put the rule affecting Rose's eligibility in effect in 1991... Two years after the commissioner banned Rose in 1989 make up another rule after the fact... Don’t forget his hits record that stood for so long, that along should be HOF worthy
But at the time he did break the rules and admitted to it. I never understood why he would tarnish is legacy like that

I was/am a Big Red Machine fan

A bad deal he brought on himself

Yes, Charlie Hustle deserves being inducted into the baseball HOF. His hit record may never be broken.
Derek Jeter was the only recent player that had a chance to break it. Jeter would have had to have 4 more 200 plus hit seasons to equal Rose.

And second place is Ty Cobb right at 400 behind Pete let that sink in only two players with 4000 hits and one hasn’t played In 80 years

Rule 21(d) of the MLB Rulebook states:
“Any player, umpire, or club or league official or employee, who shall bet any sum whatsoever upon any baseball game in connection with which the bettor has a duty to perform shall be declared permanently ineligible.”

The rule dates back to the 1920s, implemented in response to the 1919 Black Sox Scandal, where members of the Chicago White Sox conspired to fix the World Series. Since then, baseball has upheld a zero-tolerance policy on gambling to protect the sport’s integrity.

When Rose was playing and managing, Rule 21(d) was posted in every clubhouse. He knew the consequences but still placed bets, leading to his permanent ban in 1989.

The rule you’re referring to reinforced Rule 21(d) in light of Rose’s gross violations of the rule including betting on games he managed.
