Academy and Walmart have their pre-spring sales around this time every year. Walmart didn't really have alot but the Mesquite and Garland store had a decent amount of bass grear. For the clearance prices you have to go to the actual store. I'm loaded down to tackle so I just walked away with a lot shirts and hoodies.

You can get the same pricing online but it's hit or miss on availability. I bought 6 spools of Shimano Mastiff for $9/ea, usually $30 fluoro (too rich for my blood!)

Kinda funny. I can buy brand new for $129. You paid $49 and will sell for $120?

Walmart’s clearance usually kicks into higher gear about two weeks after Academy does their 50% extra off the clearance price.

Capitalism at work. All depends if you wanna save $20/rod due to sales tax. If they don’t sell I’ll use em or trade them in

$156 later picked up some nessie for $4 cullshad for $5 cpl pks 6th sense ribbon tail worms for $1.48 Abu Garcia revo x 7.0 mh f for $75 reg $200 marked down to $149. Had to make up for last year where I stuck to my goal of buying no baits.

The Academy’s I’ve been in have on inventory. I asked one of the employees if they were going to stop selling fishing tackle. He said he wasn’t sure. They were not telling them why nothing was being sent in.

Ours had nothing of use, at any price, for sale in the clearance section. Total suck bomb.


Still managed to spend $100

Was not to impressed. They have moved in the new stuff though, they are making some changes .

Ours didn't have anything good on clearance but had a pile of new Falcon Lowriders in stock so that's a win.

I like that I have to drive 30-40 minutes to the nearest Academy. Saves me $$$

McKinney had Bill Lewis lures on Clearance. I managed several jerk baits (scope stick) and a Rayburn Red Rat-L-Trap. Also a spool of Abraisix 25lb. In total 8 or so lures and 200 yards of fluoro for <$60.

I was at Academy in Bossier City. They were putting out new stock but they moved like dripping water. In one spot. Then had to take a break.

The one in Lewisville had very little fishing stuff on the shelves the other day. I was after a rod sock for a new rod and there were 3 in the store that I could find. Lots of clearance stuff but nothing exciting...

Visited Grapevine today. They had about 20 bins on a rolling rack for baits. A lot of the store brand and a lot of the Berkley big swimbaits, but there was a small selection of Zoom, Strike King and Yamamoto. The only rods I saw were ProFISHiency. Just a heads up - I am 5'11 and I culd not see in the top bins. I reached in to a few but quit after I got a spinnerbait hook jab.
