What is your oldest possession that you bought with money that you earned that you still have in your possession. Not something that was passed down or given to you. Not something you bought with money that was given to you either. Mine is a LYNYRD SKYNYRD album I bought in 1976 when I was 17 (Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd). 2nd oldest is my Remington 700 ADL - .270 caliber (August of 1977) that I still use today. I bought the same album It is great I haven`t got to play or hear it or any of my other records in 15 or so years. My granddaughter was playing with my (1982) Technics turntable when she was about 4 and broke the stylist. Someday I will get something to listen to them again. I plan on giving my albums to my grandson who loves music as much as I do.

Mine is also a Rem 700 ADL in 270. Bought at OTASCO while I was in High School , Probably 1969. I bought 3 rifles while I worked there, still have all three , should have bought a bunch more and left them in the box. Should have spent more $ on guns , less on beer and chicks. MO

Great question given the parameters. I can’t think of anything I still have that I bought years ago. Maybe my ping eye3 blades from around 99-2000. I have a few shotguns from early 2000s and a Taurus revolver bought around 1990. I don’t like to keep things that aren’t really worth much (except the Taurus ) My first pistol was a Taurus .38 special revolver that I bought from a part time police officer I worked with @ Winn Dixie in 1977. I could not hit $hit with it and sold it shortly thereafter.

MO I wanted to buy a Remington BDL and not the ADL but I just didn`t have the extra money. I had just moved out 6 weeks after graduating high school and supporting myself 100% so money was very tight for a poor kid. I somehow saved up enough in 2 months after I bought the ADL to buy a Redfield 6x scope for 69 dollars that stayed on the rifle until 2008 (41 years). I sold it to a coworker for 60 bucks. Not a bad return.

Caught a lot of big bass on that rod. I still have an ABU Garcia rod (pistol grip) with a Zebco 33 reel on it that I bought in 1978. I carried it behind the seat of my or in my toolbox of my 1979 GMC Heavy Half until I traded it in 1987.

In 1955 when I was 15 years old. Over a long period of time I finally saved enough money, $54.00, to buy the Winchester pump action 22 rifle that I had been admiring at the local hardware store for a long time. My dad carried me to town and waited for me in the car while I went to the store and bought the gun. I walked out with the gun that I had dreamed about for a long time. Squirrel hunting was my passion as a kid. I still have that rifle that I earned the money for by picking cotton and hauling hay for neighbors.

I mail ordered the "Harry and Charlie" hard cover series from Bassmaster back in the early 80s. I still have them on a bookshelf.

I’m pretty sure she would have to throw it to hit anything with it

A pancho liner I brought back from Nam the first time in 1968.

Don't know why but I still have two Duncan Yo-Yo's I bought with money earned selling coke bottles. I think I paid 25 cents apiece for them.

I have a few shotguns from early 2000s and a Taurus revolver bought around 1990. I don’t like to keep things that aren’t really worth much (except the Taurus ) I'm kind of this way too....I don't know of anything that I bought that I've had more than 10 years. Of course in my 20s I didn't spend money on much of anything. Great question though - going to ponder on it a bit and see if I can remember anything. Honestly it's probably my wedding ring - had 18 years this year. Almost none of the tools I currently own are more than 10 years old because I was too poor in my 20s to be able to afford decent quality anything. I've had my Colt 1911 for about 7 or 8 years. Bought that with my own money and won't ever sell it. I have many things older than that - all inherited. My dad's 1997 Triton bass boat that he bought new sits in my shop in near-mint condition. Got a Colt 1917 and a Winchester pre-64 model 94 that I got from grandpa. Couple of old shotguns that were dad's. Some tools I got as Christmas gifts in my 20s that I still have. Nice Husky toolbox that my wife got me when I got my first shop 13 years ago. I just didn't spend my own money on any of it. Too much of a cheapskate I suppose.

Some Republic of Texas promissory notes/currency from 1838-1840 signed by Mirabeau B Lamar, some CSA currency, and a Winchester 1873 made in 1888 are the oldest things in my possession.
