I think most of us don't use currency much anymore. I just hate to get ird of it just one more step towards the end times and hard times.

I am going to start stockpiling pennies. Maybe in about 100 years they will be worth something. I have been stock piling them for years. My hoard just increased in value if they stop making them. Same for nickels, dimes, and quarters. ๐ They will become valuable about the same Time as Beanie Babies become valuable. That may be about as dumb a statement as I have seen here. ๐๐ The mint estimates there are 250,000,000,000 pennies out there. Are you basing your informed statement on collector rarity or zinc content which is sold by he ton.

And we get screwed over once again, ain't many - if any - retailers who will round down. The retailers all want you to round up for Unicef or some other charity now as it is.

I feel sorry for them regardless, if they know it or not

I wonder if the US Mint will produce pennies for uncirculated mint & proof sets, or if they're going to cease ALL production?

I used to travel to Canada for our business (maybe once a year) and I think they used a government system to round off. Sometimes you paid an extra penny or two, and sometimes it was less. Probably balanced out over the year.

I have told cashiers for years that I donโt want the pennies when they are getting my change. When I go to one of those auto checkout things, I just leave them in the change bowl for someone that might need or want them. Iโm a high roller like that.
