Made a long paddle … see a lot of fish in main channel suspended from top to bottom… know better than to stop and jack with them.. paddle to back of cove… nothing on screen in water starting out at 10 feet… keep paddling and casting.. nothing. I was hitting every stump and lay down from different angles.. nothing.. keep going and finally get bit.. I’m in2 feet of thick stumps and grass.. start catching.. stuck stakeout pole and anchored myself and just threw bait in every direction.. it was as good as it gets for getting bit.. once it slowed down I would move thirty yards and start casting in every direction again.. Landed only 12 but missed a bunch and got busted off once.. most in the 2-3 lb range but had one 4-5 lbs that jumped completely out of the water after it busted off.. found a lot of fry jumping out of the water as well.. long paddle back in the dark and there were some small schools of bass hitting on top right against the bank in deep water.. hooked a couple of them as well but they came off..

5 inch on 5/0 owner flashy swimmer.. tried other colors as I went through a few… game over color was the one that worked best for me…. thru 6 inch as well hoping to catch something bigger and never got bit on it.. Can’t think of a better bait to throw than this.. doesn’t get hung up, and nothing special on retrieve except slow tapping bottom.. the fish were thumping it.

Went back to Naconiche today (Saturday). Same hole, same results… headed in when I caught my 12th fish. much harder today than last time… more folks fishing, wind was howling.. didn’t get nearly as many bites but didn’t lose many… they weren’t nearly as aggressive either, very subtle bite.. threw only 5 and 6 inch swim baits all day.. never got bit on the 6 inch and put it away..
