Snow on the ground less than 2 weeks ago but they were bedding heavy today.

Best day for numbers I’ve had in a while

I only fished three hours this morning but I caught 10 nice keepers. Beats the zero I put up last weekend.

It’s crazy. Last year at this time we were 50 below zero! Haha.

The wild part was there was a 10 degree difference in temps just a 1/4 mile apart. The wind was brutal. We had a TM issue that made the wind more a factor. Toughest day for us on CC in years.

I would say that falcon should be on fire. But for all the others, it's way too soon IMO

With this cold front moving in, do you think it will slow it down.

Btw, do you know of an old man named "John Williams" that used to guide down there in the late 90's? Was an amazing character that was as good of a guide, as he was an entertainer. Pretty sure he was an old Cajun transplanted down to Tx.

I think they are pretty much committed from what I have seen.. And it is not going to get that cold here I don't think..

Knew John Williams well.. A character indeed.. He should have written movie scripts.. We shared a boat on an occasion or two..

He passed away about two years ago.. Another of the "Old School" gone..

We caught them pretty good on LBJ off beds in February 2 years ago and the water temp never got over 60 degrees that day. It was cold abd rainy that morning and we really didn't see any. Around 11 or so it cleared offend we found a few areas where they moved up watering the day. Fun times.

No weighers,

Thanks for that info, John was a one of a kind. Some of the most amazing experiences with a salty dog fisherman. He would take us to a specific tree, and tell us what size fish was on it before it was caught. Loved his boat back then, he ran everything from the back of the boat. Thanks for the update...

Wow! Mid-Lake was 53 - 65. Warmest was back of Highsaw, coolest I found was in Cobb Inlet. Then again, with the wind, I didn't wander much.

David - We went in to Cobb first thing and when we got there we were alone for almost the whole time. Went to the very back and I was really liking the water level and grass and it looked better to me than the last few years at this time. But the water temp was only 52. We fished everything in Cobb for most of the day and the water temp didn't rise much at all and it was the dead sea. Only managed one short fish. Then went scrambling for the rest of the day before we called it qjuits. Sounds like there was a major change in water temps from one location to the next and we just didn't end up in those warmer areas.

Wife and I were messing around trying to force feed some minnows to crappie way up shallow but we caught some catfish and one bass.
I was surprised to see it had warmed up 10 degrees from the weekend before, but we had a full week of way higher than average temps.
We we’re in there just hiding from the wind so we didn’t go into any other areas

Yeah,
I was where the boats in the money were in Highsaw/Ledbetter. Had a chance at them if I had switched up baits, apparently. I couldn't get them on moving baits, but apparently I wasn't throwing the right profile... I was catching numbers, but not size. Ended up with only 4 swimmers.
