File the claim, then when it’s all done find a new insurance provider. State Farm is terrible. I’ve always been quite happy with them, but this changes things

State Farm got to be too expensive for me.
Went with Texas Farm Bureau and received better coverage and rates, but they are all taking us to the cleaners over time.

I wasn’t anticipating a claim where I am not at fault to increase my rate.
I was told since I had 2 other claims 3 years ago it would rise. 1 my wife needed roadside help, the other was for broken windshield both are zero deductible portions of our collision policy. We were told then that those don’t affect the rate, now I guess they do.

Well, after months, I finally settled this on my own. I’ve always known I should have been a lawyer. My insurance said my rate would probably go up if I filed a claim, so I took it upon myself, and got a satisfactory outcome.
Granted it took interacting with 5 people at their insurance and they hired a private investigator to interview my wife and I seperately.
They made us out to be criminals but in the end the truth prevailed.
These insurance companies are crooked.

I had the same experience with Allstate. Their client backed into my car in a parking lot as I was driving down the row between spaces. $2,500 damage to the side of my car. The woman and her husband apologized and I got their insurance info. They asked me to get a repair estimate before I called their insurance in case they wanted to pay me directly. When I did contact Allstate they said their client claimed I hit them and they were not even moving. I asked the insurance rep to explain how I would have hit the back of their car with the side of my car and she admitted it sounded implausible, but because their client denied fault they would not cover my damage. That cost me my $500 deductible. Vowed to NEVER do business with Allstate. Did you file on your insurance letting them know what happened? They should have gone after the other driver's insurance. This I got hit buy someone insured by Fred Loya. I knew immediately to get my insurance involved and they paid for my damages. It did take about a year for my insurance to recover their funds, but it was no hassle for me and no increase cost to my policy.

Get your insurance involved and things will go much more smoothly. You won’t be opening claim on your insurance, the claim will be filed against the other parties insurance. This is what you pay your insurance company for, let them help you handle it. Good advice, i'll give my insurance a call, and talk all of this over. We had to do that once with a very similar situation. Your insurance will go after their insurance. Hopefully an insurance professional will chime in soon. Alright.
I called my insurance agent. She told me I can file a a claim against my insurance, get everything fixed, but I will have to pay my deductible.
If the at fault drivers insurance accept fault, they will pay all costs, she talked can’t a subrogation process, where they get everything back including what would be my deductible, but this could be anywhere from right away or months or longer.
Does this sound right? That is what you are supposed to do. Dealing with someone else's insurance company is like letting your wife's lawyer handle your divorce.

Didn’t read all of this but dealt with the same situation.
Called my insurance filed a claim. They contacted other insurance company, other company agreed to pay for damages when contacted by them.
Didn’t end up with claim on my record, insurance company cancelled my claim.

Didn't read all of the comments so apologize if this has been stated already. You should send them a demand letter and a deadline to follow through. If they don't, you can file it with the Texas Insurance something or other. When my son was in an accident that wasn't his fault, I was getting no love from the other insurance company - not on repairs or injury. I googled and it said to send them a demand letter. Conversation started the very next day.
