Yesterday, first day of the Toyota Series event... It'll be interesting to see if they can keep it up... Dan

Are the entry numbers down? Doesn't seem like a big turnout.

Doesn't surprise me at all. The only reason BC winning weight was low was because of the wind. That lake just keeps producing great fishing year over year no matter what happens.

I agree the lake keeps producing great fish but not great fishing. There still remains a large population of big fish in the lake but it's not fishing as well as it mostly has over the last 20-30 years. The grass is scarce due to the ever changing water levels and the repair to the dam still has not been completed which will lead to another 6 foot water drop in the near future. I was at the weigh in yesterday and I think Chris McCall and Mike Hawkes were the only two anglers in the top 10 over the age of thirty. This tells me most (if not all) the bags were caught scoping. In other words, the youngs have figured out how to catch the remaining giants in the lake but the lake is on the edge of a sizable down turn. I am a FFS fan and I'm not blaming it for the down turn, I am blaming it for the giant bags of fish in the midst of a down turn. I wake up every morning and see the lake. I see the fish not being as healthy, the spots not reloading as fast as they always have, and the relentless pressure. When this down turn becomes evident to more people and the bag weights go down the pressure will subside and the lake will regain it's strength just like Toledo has. Hopefully.

Definitely not FFS pressure causing this. It's just like many other lakes...overall pressure since covid. Rayburn was actually seeing this pressure a couple years prior to covid. The best thing for this lake is for it to tank for a few years and Toledo flurish. Rayburn needs a reset bad.

If you ask the ones catching them, they will tell ya it’s fishing just fine.

I think it fishing tougher because of high water during this time of year. Im not worried this cold front pushed the lake back a bit, but its fixing to break out in the next 2 weeks.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone busts a 35+ bag by the end of the weekend. It's that time of the year. My money is on Wyatt to do it.

I noticed the average age as well. Most of them still had tit milk on their upper lips. Definitely changing.

Nah... The leader Brody Campbell for the win... He's young, but battle tested... Know his Dad... He cut his teeth on the Ohio River so I know he's mentally tough enough to weather any storm... Plus he has a 10lb lead going into the final day... Dan

Those old East Texas legends were crushing bags with milk on the upper lip too. To go biblical “there is nothing new under the sun”
