I do my own normally but the Camry needed a change when I was going to be away for 5 days so I took it to a Kwik Dar place close by. I told them I was in a hurry and they did it in about 10 minutes.
The didn't ask me a thing.

It was $80 and I can change it myself for about $55.

That was the first paid oil change I've done in decades.

You think all those paper tag people are doing maintenance on their vehicle?

roflmao

They don’t have insurance or anything else for that matter.

When I used to take the company vehicles in they never tried to upsell because they knew they would have to call the fleet people for approval and that answer was always no. Personal vehicle brings the same carp as bb states above, air filter, cabin filter or windshield wipers. All very easy to replace on your own for much less

They have a crazy markup on filters and wiper blades. Usually more than double what you pay for them retail, so their markup must be close to 200%.

All for equipment that can be installed in minutes with no tools required.

I get my wipers from rock auto. With shipping they're still half the price of autozone. Filters too.

I hate changing the wipers on my truck, so aggravating, it’s worth it to me for someone else to do it once a year.

When I change the air and cabin filters on our vehicles I always write the date and mileage on the new filter with a Sharpie. A few months ago I had changed them over the weekend. Wife took her car for an oil change later that week and sure enough they tell her both filters need changed. She called them out on their nonsense.

Funny how they always say the cabin air filter needs changing but there’s no indication they ever removed the glove box to get to it.

I'd just have them pick it up at the Paraiso, have chicken fried steak, knock back a beer, relax and have them bring it back to me. But IF, is such a big word.

The absolute worse part about having someone else change your oil is when they do it wrong. When they strip out the plugs threads, when they don’t tighten the plug well enough.

Recently I took my wife’s car for an oil change, I noticed a day later a small leak under the car, car never had leaked before.

Upon further inspection, the drain plug was literally hanging by a thread, and was leaking. It was completely loose. Insane.

This is why 95% of the time I do my own work, because it just isn’t worth it to trust the idiots working at a service station.

Yeah but I can't afford to eat out and have my oil changed in the same month!!

Fumoto valve is your friend. We change all our own oil and filters around here, it takes longer to drain the the oil than everything else combined.
