So here recently I’ve stumbled into some schools of stripers and sandbass. I can scope them long enough to catch one or two from the school, but by the time I get through with the second one the school is gone. If I had a thumper, would it keep the school directly under the boat for longer letting me catch more? If so, is there a particular thumper that somebody recommends? Thanks for your help Wesley.

Yes many times it will help hold the school or keep them coming back. Bobo thumpers are really good

It works well.

Depending on the thumper and boat I have an aluminum center console it can "ring the dinner bell" and it will bring everyone...

it can keep them as long as 45 minutes has been the longest I've held them under the boat. Exhausting...I will rig up minnows, 6 poles and then turn the thumper on and it has never not attracted something...it has created some of the most epic fishing that you could only image...seen 6 poles get slammed so many times that I only do it when nothing is biting.

I use it not just for White bass, striper and hybrids but for largemouth in the winter deep water.

I like to drift and thump at the same time. I have had fish under the boat for well over 2hrs in long slow drifts. It definitely works well for me in real cold water when I am deadsticking.

I couldn't agree more, except I use my trolling motor. The only time I drift is if to see if the fish happen to be spooked by the trolling motor that particular day

I use my trolling motor also, that’s what I qualify as drifting. 👍

Jeff Bobo makes a fabulous long lasting thumper ! Have used his for over 8 years . Find the bait , turn on the thumper and within a few minutes, the fish are under the boat.

I use the trolling motor with splasher prop. The thumper gives me a headache.
I drift (move) 0.1 to 0.3 mph against wind with the bow trolling motor.
when they pile up, sometimes I spot lock and just kill the hybrids.
The splasher prop works great!

100%! Right now it's tough on my little lake, but normally it always helps.
