What makes me the most upset about these sorts of scenarios is the looting that goes. Looters have to be the absolute scum of the earth, they should take away their citizenship if they have them, and let them serve some hard time at Guantanamo Bay.
Looters make my blood boil. I’ve got a list of the ones I’d like to see thinned from the heard…

Looking at the reports...
656 firefighters were added yesterday to Southern Cal's wildfires. Kenneth is now fully contained. Hurst is 89% contained. Eaton is 27% contained. Palisades fire is 13% contained and was the only fire that grew in acreage yesterday with 50 acres of growth reported.
I watched the briefing, it sounds like the crews are making good progress, but everyone is bracing for another round of near record Santa Ana Winds with low relative humidities including poor overnight humidity recovery. Red Flag warnings are in place through 6PM Wednesday.
Lets continue to pray for those working to get these fires under control, and further pray that no new fires start.

I forgot to ask - what is the name of the red chemical that the planes are dropping?

I just landed in Ontario, CA. It’s a windy, hazy mofo out here.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phos-ChekIt’s basically a fertilizer, Most aircraft can apply different coverage levels based on what it’s being applied to. Light coverage in grass vs heavy coverage in heavy timber. Some of the bigger planes are able to make multiple passes rather than just dropping it all at once. You’ll see them drop, go around, tag into their last drop and extend, so they can apply it properly where the crews want it.

Most of the heavy tankers are brought into the area with a lead plane that flys right in front of the tanker. They let out smoke to let the pilot of the tanker know exactly where they should start their drop.

I don't wanna see anyone burn up. In your line of business that could be a motto.

I didn't watch the briefing today, but the numbers show that the firefighters are making descent progress and they seem to of held everything in place in lieu of the high winds yesterday, no new fires and no new fire growth.
Palisades is 14% contained, Eaton is 33% contained, Hurst is 97%. It looks like about 300 firefighters either timed out or were reassigned, they were demobed off the Eaton and Hurst Fires, while the Palisades added 77 new personnel. My guess is there are a lot of resources on standby and prepositioned in strategic locations for today and tmrw's red flag warnings. So some of those that came off the Eaton and Hurst fires may be staging for new fire suppression support.
Lets hope no new fires start, and they continue to make progress while remaining safe.

Probably some bum or arsonist or maybe a bum thats an arsonist, but i'm not catching the connection between a human caused fire start and anything to do with climate change. What would an example of a climate change caused wildfire?
I think the proper argument for those that believe in climate change would be that climate change has exacerbated the situation and made controlling wildfire once they do start. Maybe i'm wrong. People are blaming climate change for the fire. it hasn't rained there since last April and the Santa Ana winds that blew in excess of 80MPH. I think thats the proper argument from a climate change perspective is not that the fire started because of climate change. but rather that the extreme conditions that contributed to rapid fire spread is a result of climate change. The words get easily minced. The fire didn't start because of climate change, it sounds like they started because someone started them. I would say its debatable that the record high winds and drought (hasn't rained since last April) could be considered indicators of climate change by some. I’m not making the argument. Like a lot of what I’ve said in this thread, I’m simply telling you what other people are saying. I think you severely underestimate how looney a lot of people in California are. Case in point: While this video may be heartwarming, it also points out how loony CA people are. In my books this ole boy is about 3 bricks shy of a load. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...ildfires-pets-dogs-reunions/77681644007/
