I'm in sales and I like my job when I get to work with customers, but just like MUD mentioned the last year has been tough because of the increase in admin responsibilities. I hate Salesforce. I've thought about retiring, but the last 2 years have been the best of my life.

I learn something new everyday. Keeping up with technology is very challenging. yeah, trying to keep up with cybersecurity exploits and vulnerabilities went from being interesting to a daily grind. Still have to keep up the fight. You just said my exact life word for word. It is a ever changing daily grind. Resolve 100 vulnerabilities and 200 more appear the next day. I still have log4j nightmares.

My job is incredibly interesting and always an adventure. I couldn't even begin to sum it a up in a concise manner. I've had a front row seat to countless amazing miracles and gut wrenching tragedies. There are days it's tested the core of my being, mental toughnesd and my physical abilities like nothing else ever could. I've been at my lowest one second and felt I was at my breaking point only for the tones to drop and I am back on top of the world just that fast. I've seen superhuman feats from mortals more times than I can count. I have laughed, cried, sweat, bled and fought beside some of the greatest people I will ever know. People that will give their lives with no questions asked or hesitation to save anyone regardless of their race, religion, serial orientation or political preference. None of that matters one bit when the tones drop. They go forward no questions asked. I've seen the best of people and the worst of peopl, sometimes on the same call.. It's been a hell of a ride. Wouldn't trade a thing and I am in no hurry to see it end. I've not always loved my job but I've never hated one single second of it and it's gonna be hard to walk away when that day comes. my son has the same job --- I worry he will be affected by the tragedies he see's . He's loves the challenge and really likes the " team " aspect . Y'all do some crazy chit for sure Tell him to keep his family close and keep the friend group that he had prior to becoming a FF around, keep hobbies, stay active and never to be afraid to tell someone if a call or calls are bothering you. We gotta do a better job in this business with our mental health and watch out for one another. If he stays in it he will eventually experience burnout, calls that haunt him and just the stresses that come with this particular job. Don't drown it in alcohol or other diversions. We all go through it. Just be honest and open about it and learn to see the signs and allow yourself the grace to be human. thanks --- it seems like his Captain / Chief are very supportive . We were there in Oct and he and battalion lead went on a really bad traffic accident ---first to arrive . It was bad enough that Chief wanted to send them to some professional help to talk about it . Was happy that they created an avenue to let him talk about what they deal with . Never imagined what yall have to go through . He has some really great co-workers , met most of them and they are a really good team . I have the utmost respect for Firefighters and Police --- yall are amazing

I honestly don’t see the aversion to salesforce. Sales seem to view it as big brother- but it’s not and shouldn’t be viewed that way. It’s a great place to keep all the data accessible to everyone within a company. Everyone wants to work in a silo but it just doesn’t work that way.

Retired with 37 years as a police officer. 18 years in detectives and 19 years in patrol. Seen very bad things and some very good things. No day was ever the same. I also had a private security company for 40 years which I sold seven years ago. I had a few very famous clients. Loved both jobs and met plenty of good people. I am very glad to be totally retired. Life is good.

Some days. Getting to work with the customer and the intelligence community is interesting. Reporting to management that doesn't understand our job or how we do it, is much less interesting.

Was before I retired, 33 years safety / risk management consulting with customers large and small, mostly TX, OK, AR. Lots of commercial construction, manufacturing, transportation, hospitality, retail, schools, healthcare, , … just about anything with employees, buildings, customers, general public. Never a dull moment helping customers protect resources and improve efficiency.

Interesting? Yeah no doubt. We managed fuel and resources. Hardware/software. Our stuff is pretty straightforward but the challenge is putting it in a lot of different applications. The world runs on diesel fuel. Anyone who thinks differently is delusional. This is the type of job I always dreamed of. Careful with that dream pards. I am a level 3 road warrior. I’m out usually 3-4 days a week minimum. I manage the state of Texas, New Mexico and Mexico. It takes a special mindset that doesn’t go home every day at 5. Gotta wear a lot of hats and herd a lot of cats. Stick me at a desk and make me deal with the same stuff every day and I’d be a raving lunatic in two weeks. This week? Two Exxon sites, Pasadena ISD and top dogs at Harris county. Then TENARIS in Bay City and Greenfield nurseries. Dallas was supposed to be next week but weather might reroute me to Laredo and Encinal. Juggling 30 calls and 50 emails a day. The question was interesting. Not chaos. The good part? Nobody supervises me. Over 60% of company sales comes from Texas, might be what you call an untouchable. Hired a knucklehead VP five years ago that was thinking I needed to be managed. And since I made more than he did that was unacceptable. Ten minutes with the owner and he was out the door the next day. Advice for anyone thinking about this life? Answer your phone and show up. Sounds easy. It’s not.

I think for me the really enjoyable thing is understanding how special it is to get to do the job and understand what it really means. I took a lot of that for granted in my younger years. I don't know if I'm any smarter as I've aged but I've learned to understand that I need to live a little more in the moment of it all and know that there will come a day when I can't do it any more and to cherish these days.

44 years in Natural Gas Distribution Operation. Lots happened over that time. It’s had its interesting moments at times. Some crazy people. A number could get a full chapter if I wrote a book. Times have changed a lot. Especially technology.
It’s been a great job over the years. Idiocracy working on making it a drag. I was fortunate to work through the era I have. 3 more years at the most and I will be done. Those in the early years or just starting out will be in a tougher era to enjoy what they do.
