Broad daylight.

Right in front of the shop. We have all the doors closed because it’s cold. I heard the trucks alarm going off on the keychain on our key rack. I kept asking. What’s that beeping noise. Opened the door and say this [censored] dragging the truck down the driveway. He then unhooked and was repositioning to get a better grab. He must have thought I was crazy.

What should be a boring monotonous job is usually full of drama. Not because of the job itself, but mainly the people I deal with. My actual title is Inventory Procurement Manager. But with the 280+ employees I'm over, it's more like Adult Daycare manager . And unfortunately it's not a generational thing...... crybabies come at all ages now days.

I'm currently at Bid Coordinator for a major transportation company, it is interesting considering there is no set rules, everyone knows more than everyone else and incompetency is rampant. Lot's of flying by the seat of your pants and hoping for the best. When I worked in finance it was boring because it was very structured.

Mud's underlined sentence above hit me, as I feel the exact same most days. I'm a fisheries management biologist, consulting for private ponds/lakes through a university in Arkansas for the whole state. The fun days are in the field, shocking fish, investigating fish kills, prescribing weed management plans, surveying build sites, designing stocking and management plans with clients. Most days are spent writing reports, emails, lectures, staring at a monitor with little to no observable physical output to see at the end of the day. I don't get much satisfaction from my digital output, though I understand/appreciate the importance of it. Definitely get to meet cool clients. Everything from just scraping by to high end wealth. Business owners and professionals within the fishing industry are especially fun as we usually just end up talking fishing stuff for an hour on top of the visit. It's like any gig, there's un-fun bits to it but overall it's a cool profession. Fish shocking days photo'd below are the best:

Something different every day. I've coached 11 kids that's played in the NFL, several to D1 colleges and multitudes to D2 and D3. I've fed them, taken them home, brought them home with me, bought groceries for them and "loaned" out probably close to a million dollars. And I love it by making a small difference in many kids lives.

A recent project that was a lot of fun. Removing water from hydraulic oil directly from a drill rig. They said it couldn’t be done but we proved them wrong.

I was starting up another dehydrator last week and had a hydraulic hose rupture. Nearly had my first oil bath of the year.

My job is incredibly interesting and always an adventure. I couldn't even begin to sum it a up in a concise manner. I've had a front row seat to countless amazing miracles and gut wrenching tragedies. There are days it's tested the core of my being, mental toughnesd and my physical abilities like nothing else ever could. I've been at my lowest one second and felt I was at my breaking point only for the tones to drop and I am back on top of the world just that fast. I've seen superhuman feats from mortals more times than I can count.
I have laughed, cried, sweat, bled and fought beside some of the greatest people I will ever know. People that will give their lives with no questions asked or hesitation to save anyone regardless of their race, religion, serial orientation or political preference. None of that matters one bit when the tones drop. They go forward no questions asked. I've seen the best of people and the worst of peopl, sometimes on the same call.. It's been a hell of a ride. Wouldn't trade a thing and I am in no hurry to see it end.
I've not always loved my job but I've never hated one single second of it and it's gonna be hard to walk away when that day comes.

But….do you get to pull guns on people doing their jobs? Yeh. It IS A REPO. I told him he could have it after I got paid for my part. Consider it a “mechanics lean”. Oooopsie daisy. roflmao slinger

Now I’m on the Desoto PD radar as a gun toting REPUBLICAN.

The guy almost [censored] himself when he saw the gun. roflmao
I told him to come knock on the door next time. Don’t just start dragging [censored] outta my parking lot.

I’ve been retired for 3 years now but my previous job was very interesting…at least to me. 13 years with DHS ICE.

Been at my current job for 11 years and if all goes well I'll be retiring this fall if not sooner. Work for a Medical Device manufacturing company. I'm a process quality technician. I get to investigate any defects found throughout the manufacturing process. It's repetitive and mind numbing at times. When a human error is involved then I get the joy of having to deal with the union when it comes to disciplining the person.
