I have always been just a working man, still am at age 71. I now work for a Window and Door Manufacturer but for most of my life since High School I was in the Glass and Mirror Industry. I went from being trained to build Leaded and Stained glass items to being put on a truck as a helper to learn installation of Mirrors and Shower units to Windows etc. I worked my way for a couple of years to finally being a lead guy on a truck. Then I went to work for a friend of mine who was starting his own company which resulted in buying a few more companies that became a great fairly large business. I went from running a truck which for many years was a daily installer of shower enclosures to eventually expanding to where I was elevated to meeting the builders and customers and measuring jobs and then eventually into the office to do office duties such as quotes and producing paperwork for work orders and invoices as well as being the showroom coordinator. Also got into some of the accounting part of the business. The major thing about this business for me was all of the people that I became involved with over the years working in multimillion dollar mansions to just a small rent house. To meet people from foreign countries to professional atheletes to politicians to musicians to just regular people like me. Doing work for people like Ross Perot and seeing his family sitting at the dinner table was cool but more importantly was being able to meet his security staff at his house and hearing some really awesome stories behind the scenes. Doing work for George and Barbara Bush before his Presidency. People like Tom Landry and his awesome wife who was as nice of a person as you could meet. Doing work for a fantastic lady designer named Rosie and then finding out when her husband came with her to the showroom to pick up some items that she was married to Charlie Waters and having some great conversations with the two. Meeting the great Randy White and getting to know him and how humble he was. To talk with Angus Wynne III and discuss music and everything he was involved with especially when I would talk about growing up in Oak Cliff and going to Wynnewood shopping center to buy albums as a young boy. Just so many people from all walks of life and sometimes it was just a regular person you would get to know over the course of a job that would turn into a regular customer or designer or builder that you would deal with for many years. It is great to look back and realize that so many great memories came out of all of those years because of the journey through my working life that is still going on these days.

I work in hydraulics. The application part of the job can be very interesting. However, more and more time is being spent on administrative BS documenting sales and opportunities in CRM and that is not interesting at all. I wish now I was out turning a wrench doing field service type of stuff so at the end of the day I can look back and see what has been accomplished. The CRM part of my job is sucking the life out of me and I enjoy it less each day.

I worked for a metal processor and distributor selling plain steel to exotic like inconel and titanium. The job wasn’t very interesting, but the travel and visits to end users and metal producers was really interesting. All in all, it was as interesting as I made it.

I'm retired at soon to be 68. I worked for 42 years for Phillips 66 from a pipe fitter to a Sr.plant operator I met some famous people within the industry probably the most being T.Boone Pickens. Some were also motivational speakers, then there were alot of those that were legends in their own minds. I did like my job and it provided a very comfortable lifestyle for my family and my pension is more than adequate. If I had it to do all over again I would do it

Day job is fairly boring. Which I don't mind. People generally leave me alone. I just put on some tunes and do my job. Side gig is definitely more interesting.

I'm retired now, but all my adult jobs were interesting. Looking back, I realize they were all pretty much hunting. Navy, maintaining electronic detection equipment both in Kingsville NAS and on the submarine. After that a short stint as a cop, and then Border Patrol, Customs Patrol, Customs Special Agent. Loved solving cases and the adrenaline rushes when it was time to go hands on.

I learn something new everyday. Keeping up with technology is very challenging. yeah, trying to keep up with cybersecurity exploits and vulnerabilities went from being interesting to a daily grind. Still have to keep up the fight.

Interesting? Yeah no doubt. We managed fuel and resources. Hardware/software. Our stuff is pretty straightforward but the challenge is putting it in a lot of different applications. The world runs on diesel fuel. Anyone who thinks differently is delusional. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ibb.co/rH5nL8L/lewis-frac.jpg)

Project Manager for new homes I drive a lot. Phone is glued to my ear. I make my own schedule. I try to play 18 once a week or hit the driving range. If I can run my jobs from my truck I surely can do it from the course. ![thumb thumb](/forums/images/graemlins/default/cup.gif)

Retired two years ago from a 43 year career with the same company. I wasn’t enjoying it at all anymore. The corporate bs was just more than I was interested in. The worst problem for me was the complete lack of work ethic from those around me. They spent more time trying to get me to do their job than just doing the work up front. I was in conflict negotiation, most younger people don’t like conflict at all and avoid it at all costs
