For the team to have performed as well as it has the last 2 years, for the coach to have kept him in with Arch waiting in the wings, says enough to me..and to do this this past year with injuries.. I give him an A on Chinga card.
It is funny how so many arm chair QB's no better than Sark on which QB to play and what plays to call. I give an A+ to Sark for the way he has handled it all.. looks like more good times next year too.. PS... I have broke many huddles and am a talent evaluator. Have to respectfully disagree.... NOT with recruiting.... NOT with day to day coaching.... NOT when it comes to game prep... And certainly NOT when it comes to dealing with arrogant ut alumni etc etc However, 5 chances from the 2 or 1 and you make that 2nd and goal at the 1 call??? Given the circumstances, that's the single worst play call I've ever witnessed. With Sark's affinity for working laterally it's not like OSU wasn't prepared for it. IMOP he's also misused Manning on the short yardage stuff... ZERO attempts to pass off the short yardage formation (all year that I know of, but for certain in big games)???? To be honest, if Texas can't score from the 2 or 1 with FIVE chances and the ball moving FORWARD they don't deserve to win the game. IMOP, he's a lot like Ewers in the big moments.... I hope he eventually figures it out (and Ewers as well) like Harbaugh did.... I like the guy and I love a good comeback story....

I like Ewers, but I think he should have sat out until he got all the way healthy. I think that was selfish. Also, in both the last Georgia game and the Ohio State game there were plenty of running lanes that a more mobile QB could have exploited and kept the Defense honest. They should have replaced him with Manning at halftime at the very least.

And here come the experts. Serious question patriot, have you ever broken a huddle, ever played QB or you're just a football talent evaluator(mainly QB) ? If you answered yes to any questions, at what level did you play? I'm not saying I know talent better than you but I have said I played the position all through JH, HS and college. I have also coached football for 39 years. Does that make me smarter, NO but that's my background on my talent evaluation. There's no smarter and less smart - these are all opinions about Quinn. The only opinion that mattered was Sark's - the rest of us speculate just to have something to talk about. My opinion, as always, is worth what you paid for it... Respect that level of time in the game - there's certainly no substitute for experience. That said, do I think you need 40 years in the game to predict that Dak or Quinn are going to F up when we need them most? I don't think so. We've seen it time and time again. Quinn is an excellent and very talented college player. There's no disputing that. But he does always seem to have a knack for screwing up at the wrong time in big games. To answer your question, I played high school, played strong side LB and ran all the defenses junior and senior year (took coach's call from the sideline and was given freedom to audible based on what I saw). I played college baseball - didn't have the speed for football at that level. What got my role as defensive leader on the football field in HS was intellect - certainly wasn't talent. I watched more film and studied more than most of the rest of our team combined. I was never going to run a 10-second 100 yard dash or bench 500 lbs. But it wasn't very hard to get a read on the fairly simplistic high school offensive game plans that we faced. And even though our offense mostly sucked, our defense gave up very few points. I had fun and that was what it was about for me. But I never wanted a lack of preparation to leave us in a bind in a game, and that's how I approached my role - overprepared and ready to counter anything I'd seen on tape (yes it was tape at the time). That's not competing at all with your experience, and I won't argue that. In a lot of ways, I value your opinion more than my own at times...I know I'm wrong about stuff...my wife makes sure I know that all the time :-) Cowboys had 10 pro bowlers last year...more than any team in the NFL. It's not my opinion that Dak had a bunch of talent around him...it's a fact. Texas had a really strong OL, DL, secondary, and well above average offensive skill players. They won the battle in the trenches against every team this year except Georgia and their entire defense is incredibly stout. I think a majority of longhorn nation had doubts about Quinn and would have liked to see what Arch could do, but at this point we'll never know what Arch could have done with this particular longhorn roster except the couple games he got in against nothing-burger teams while Quinn was out. That's how life is - just time to move on. Maybe we can all just be glad that McCarthy is out in Dallas and maybe we'll hire somebody who can start fixing things. Probably a pointless hope, but you gotta hold onto something other than Jerry moving on, because that's not happening. Fair enough, thank you for answering my question.

If you aren't aware, a high ankle sprain is a fractured fibula, the little lower leg bone. I was very unaware that a high ankle sprain is actually a fracture.

I am not a football coach but coached basketball at the high school and collegiate levels. I played football in high school. I don't need as many years experience as some to know about "it". You can throw stats all you want but there is the "it" factor and I don't believe Ewers has it. I don't know if Manning has it either but we are surely going to find out.
Addendum:
I didn't go to UT nor am I a UT Fan.

I have no dog in this hunt in fact, I hope Sark evaluates players like most do but it is not right that many are ganging up on this kid. Good grief, look at the stats.
TX Rushing yards in loss' or close games in 2024:
GA 29 GA 31 ASU 53 OSU 58
Texas averaged 158.8 yards per game for the season.
Texas passing yards per same games in 2024
GA 230 GA 358 ASU 322 OSU 283
Texas averaged 278.75 passing yards per game for the season.
So Ewers passed above the season average for 3 of the 4 loss' or close games. WOW. News Flash....Texas sucks when the other team stops the run except when Ewers won the game against ASU.
Yeah, I think everyone should be dancing in the streets he is leaving because everyone knows an unproven blue blood will take you to the promised land. Well done.

As a former HS and college QB I can tell you things move fast on the field. It's much easier to QB from your recliner, 40 lbs overweight, drinking beer and watching the game on TV. In big games windows get tighter because you're playing the best in college, he's damn good. Often wonder why colleges hire coaches and spend all that money when all the answers are here that they need. I do not care about football and do not comment when reading here, but Coach Hark, you are deserving of a like button.

I like QE, I do. Think he has had a solid career here and will be a decent pro. Like maybe top 25 on a bad team and some backup work. He needs a few years holding a clipboard. He is no world beater, that's for sure. Kind of a slightly better Gardner Minchew. But here's what I think is his deal. I think he's kind of hitting his ceiling. I just think this is about as good as he's gonna get except for a slight uptick being around NFL level coaching and grooming. I keep thinking he'll take the next step, and he doesn't really. Every player with the exception of the GOAT TB12, had a ceiling. I think QE is pretty much looking at his.
