Patriot is entitled to his opinion…which I mostly agree with, but coach, I’ve never played QB above the playground level. So consider me and my opinion irrelevant.

I'm not that guy but I do like to know someone's background when giving an opinion. Example is Steez, I know his background with vehicles and I value his opinion on vehicle questions. Slicefixer's background is golf, I value his opinion on golf questions. Happykamper and WAWI are business guys, I value their opinion on business questions. That's my point in asking patriot his background. Does that make sense?

And here come the experts. Serious question patriot, have you ever broken a huddle, ever played QB or you're just a football talent evaluator(mainly QB) ? If you answered yes to any questions, at what level did you play? I'm not saying I know talent better than you but I have said I played the position all through JH, HS and college. I have also coached football for 39 years. Does that make me smarter, NO but that's my background on my talent evaluation. Your opinion certainly carries a lot of weight with me Coach.... for whatever that's worth.... Golly geez, thanks slice

As a former HS and college QB I can tell you things move fast on the field. It's much easier to QB from your recliner, 40 lbs overweight, drinking beer and watching the game on TV. In big games windows get tighter because you're playing the best in college, he's damn good. he blows big games if he was that good he would still be playing time will tell

Will Levi’s and Arch Manning will always have something Ewers never will. A nfl starting position.

He's like Dak. Fans point out stats, which are no doubt impressive. Realists point out that those stats were largely racked up against significantly inferior teams, and with incredibly good talent surrounding him.
He's not even necessarily "bad" against good teams. He just isn't electric, doesn't scare defenses with his arm or legs really, and like Dak he seems to have a knack for a turnover in big games at the worst moment. Bad kid or bad QB? Not at all. Heisman candidate, national champion QB, or 1st round draft pick? No
The unfortunate part for Quinn is that his backup has a similar arm and better legs and the main reason Quinn started was seniority. Arch won't have the same team around him next year that Quinn did this year. Nobody is criticizing Quinn this year if we didn't have Arch on the bench IMHO. yep

He is a very good college QB. Perhaps even an elite college QB. BUT - he doesn't have a great track record in big games against great teams. When you are playing against a really good team, and need high level play from the quarterback in order to win... is he who you want throwing the ball?
Lots of guys can be a good quarterback on teams with great OL, RB's and WR's. Lots of quarterbacks can win games when they play on a team with a shutdown defense. But the number of quarterbacks that can carry a team on their shoulders is very small, and I'm not sure Ewers is counted among them.
He is still very good though, and I'd bet on him having a 10 year NFL career.

Well sark sees both QB’s on a daily basis, everyone has their own opinion, if manning was better he would be the starter, maybe I’m wrong.

My guess there is he sees Manning as more talented, but Ewers as more seasoned. Giving a talented QB extra time to learn the system before throwing him to the wolves will only enhance that talent, and improve his potential.

Experienced all of it personally, both as a player and as a coach, and there's a BIG difference.... Just because you were good to great at one doesn't mean it'll transfer to the other..... 😉 IMOP, in the big moments, things just haven't quite consistently "slowed down" (focus on the immediate task at hand, calm, etc etc) enough for Ewers... yet. If they do he might enjoy a very successful 15 to 20 year NFL career. If they don't it'll be a pretty short run. IMOP, that's the single most important characteristic that separates the ones that have a true "chance"... crosses over into all sports IMOP.... all of life really.

I think you are wrong lol, Patriot is the quarterback whisperer, he tried to tell Shanahan to not spend 3 number 1's on Lance LOL. Just giving patriot some fun ribbing, I enjoy reading his post although I disagree with most of them.

Arch won't have the same team around him next year that Quinn did this year. Nobody is criticizing Quinn this year if we didn't have Arch on the bench IMHO. You have zero idea how Arch is gonna hold up, the decisions he will make on the field, how he will be down the stretch in 4th quarter..... no idea. You are purely speculating on what you hope will be the case. If Arch was better I'm pretty sure he would have been the starter and Ewers would have hit the portal before season. Ewers hitting the portal before the season is exactly why Arch didn't start. I don't know any of that stuff. Never said I didn't. It's just an opinion. I think we all had a good idea of how Ewers would hold up. Been telling my BIL and FIL (both big Ewers fans) since day 1 this year if you want to beat bad teams and lose the big games and go pretty far but not all the way, Quinn is your guy. It's exactly what happened...which is fine. We were one of the last 4 teams standing. But we never had a chance to win a title with him, just like the cowboys don't with Dak...which is all fine and well except you may have a QB on your bench who would have given you a chance at a title and certainly would have threatened opposing defenses more. Of course, as always, this is just my opinion.

He won two playoff games. He's won some pretty big games.
