Good Gawd Wawi sees more clearly about Ewers than many Texas fans.

For the team to have performed as well as it has the last 2 years, for the coach to have kept him in with Arch waiting in the wings, says enough to me..and to do this this past year with injuries.. I give him an A on Chinga card.

It is funny how so many arm chair QB's no better than Sark on which QB to play and what plays to call.

He's like Dak. Fans point out stats, which are no doubt impressive. Realists point out that those stats were largely racked up against significantly inferior teams, and with incredibly good talent surrounding him.
He's not even necessarily "bad" against good teams. He just isn't electric, doesn't scare defenses with his arm or legs really, and like Dak he seems to have a knack for a turnover in big games at the worst moment. Bad kid or bad QB? Not at all. Heisman candidate, national champion QB, or 1st round draft pick? No
The unfortunate part for Quinn is that his backup has a similar arm and better legs and the main reason Quinn started was seniority. Arch won't have the same team around him next year that Quinn did this year. Nobody is criticizing Quinn this year if we didn't have Arch on the bench IMHO. You have zero idea how Arch is gonna hold up, the decisions he will make on the field, how he will be down the stretch in 4th quarter..... no idea. You are purely speculating on what you hope will be the case. If Arch was better I'm pretty sure he would have been the starter and Ewers would have hit the portal before season. Ewers hitting the portal before the season is exactly why Arch didn't start. I don't know any of that stuff. Never said I didn't. It's just an opinion. I think we all had a good idea of how Ewers would hold up. Been telling my BIL and FIL (both big Ewers fans) since day 1 this year if you want to beat bad teams and lose the big games and go pretty far but not all the way, Quinn is your guy. It's exactly what happened...which is fine. We were one of the last 4 teams standing. But we never had a chance to win a title with him, just like the cowboys don't with Dak...which is all fine and well except you may have a QB on your bench who would have given you a chance at a title and certainly would have threatened opposing defenses more. Of course, as always, this is just my opinion. The key word is may have a chance, you don't know that. And for the record that Ohio State team is hot right now. Ibdont know if anyone has much chance at this point. One thing is for sure Ewers got you there. You can't say that Arch could have beyond wild speculation, you cant say that taking off and running wouldnt have got him hurt. You are just throwing mud against wall.

All the folks on the Ewers Sucks band wagon are going to regret it.
Texas rushed for 58 yards against OSU and Ewers was the only offense the team can muster. NO quarterback can carry a team on with his arm the entire game. OSU was crushing the running game knowing TX had to pass.
Ewers is not great but he is pretty good. A running game could make him look great.
He has been a huge part of the last two seasons of putting TX back on the map and most are ready to throw him to the wolves.
History lesson: For the last 14 years, TX has sucked for all but 2 (while Ewers was started last three) and most are too short sighted to see that. Texas is not a dynasty (at least not yet) like Alabama, Ohio State, Nebraska, Miami, Oklahoma (this one hurts), etc. They really haven't won much although more than the school 1 1/2 hours NE of Austin. The lack of patience is astounding.
One game away from the National Championship and the coach sucks and the quarterback that got you there sucks too. Unbelievable. I get it that is is hard to get that far and fall short but man, give it a break......

And here come the experts. Serious question patriot, have you ever broken a huddle, ever played QB or you're just a football talent evaluator(mainly QB) ? If you answered yes to any questions, at what level did you play? I'm not saying I know talent better than you but I have said I played the position all through JH, HS and college. I have also coached football for 39 years. Does that make me smarter, NO but that's my background on my talent evaluation. There's no smarter and less smart - these are all opinions about Quinn. The only opinion that mattered was Sark's - the rest of us speculate just to have something to talk about. My opinion, as always, is worth what you paid for it... Respect that level of time in the game - there's certainly no substitute for experience. That said, do I think you need 40 years in the game to predict that Dak or Quinn are going to F up when we need them most? I don't think so. We've seen it time and time again. Quinn is an excellent and very talented college player. There's no disputing that. But he does always seem to have a knack for screwing up at the wrong time in big games. To answer your question, I played high school, played strong side LB and ran all the defenses junior and senior year (took coach's call from the sideline and was given freedom to audible based on what I saw). I played college baseball - didn't have the speed for football at that level. What got my role as defensive leader on the football field in HS was intellect - certainly wasn't talent. I watched more film and studied more than most of the rest of our team combined. I was never going to run a 10-second 100 yard dash or bench 500 lbs. But it wasn't very hard to get a read on the fairly simplistic high school offensive game plans that we faced. And even though our offense mostly sucked, our defense gave up very few points. I had fun and that was what it was about for me. But I never wanted a lack of preparation to leave us in a bind in a game, and that's how I approached my role - overprepared and ready to counter anything I'd seen on tape (yes it was tape at the time). That's not competing at all with your experience, and I won't argue that. In a lot of ways, I value your opinion more than my own at times...I know I'm wrong about stuff...my wife makes sure I know that all the time :-) Cowboys had 10 pro bowlers last year...more than any team in the NFL. It's not my opinion that Dak had a bunch of talent around him...it's a fact. Texas had a really strong OL, DL, secondary, and well above average offensive skill players. They won the battle in the trenches against every team this year except Georgia and their entire defense is incredibly stout. I think a majority of longhorn nation had doubts about Quinn and would have liked to see what Arch could do, but at this point we'll never know what Arch could have done with this particular longhorn roster except the couple games he got in against nothing-burger teams while Quinn was out. That's how life is - just time to move on. Maybe we can all just be glad that McCarthy is out in Dallas and maybe we'll hire somebody who can start fixing things. Probably a pointless hope, but you gotta hold onto something other than Jerry moving on, because that's not happening.

Totally agree. But me and many others said from the start that we knew Ewers wouldn't get us a title. When big game time came, he wasn't gonna be able to pull us through. I hope Quinn takes his $6M NIL offer and comes back next year somewhere else and proves me wrong. Maybe he will.

I get it that is is hard to get that far and fall short but man, give it a break...... Don't disagree - Quinn has been a big part of bringing top-level football back to Austin. That doesn't mean he couldn't have shared the load this year. There's a difference between "maybe we could have used both of our star QBs instead of just 1" versus saying "Quinn sucks", which I don't think I've heard any longhorns fan say. Having a mobile QB like Arch opens up the running game because you now have multiple backfield threats. The lack of an elite run game is exactly why Arch should have at least been a part of the game plan every week - give him one series a half or something just so the defense has something else to think about. Why do you think the NFL's best QBs are all runners - Lamar, Mahomes, Allen all force defenses to play the game differently because of their legs, which opens things up for all other skill players. Anybody saying Sark sucks has lost their mind. One of the top coaches in the game.

The only problem I ever had with him Often times he was a statue in the pocket. Even before the high ankle sprain. Definitely don't hate him. Frustrated with him at times though.

i don't think anybody hates him the hype is what is hated the running game is weak, because the defense can key on that not worry about passing so much

As a totally impartial viewer, I thought ewers played his butt off in that last game. I didn’t watch him that much this year but he looks like a gamer to me

The way t sips are treating him on internet he should go to OU and break it off in Austins arse next year. That feels appropriate based in the nonsense that's been said about him
