Took a little time off the past 7-10 days to relax with family and friends and recharge after the holiday season! Today, I got back out for a quick scouting trip from 1:30-4:15 PM on Cedar Creek with my good friend and one of the top longtime guides here, Jason Barber, and his son Jacob, who’s really becoming a skilled angler in his own right!
It didn’t take long—only 15-20 minutes of knocking and splashing—before the Hybrids and Whitebass went wild! This is pretty typical when Jason and I team up for the winter deadsticking bite. We landed 25 Hybrids and 45 Magnum Whitebass on our first drift in just 90 minutes! After a short second drift in 45 feet of water, we added a few more nice Hybrids, including one giant that tipped the scales at 7.5 pounds!
We kept 40 excellent Whitebass and tagged & released all of the Hybrids.
2025 is already shaping up to be a stellar year for trophy Hybrids and the chance to catch the biggest freshwater fish of your life! This type of fishing can be intense in the elements, so if you book, be prepared with the right gear and get ready for the experience of a lifetime.
I have a few dates left in February, but after the next few days of action, they’ll fill up fast! Call me now or book online at Lonestarfishingtx.com.
Stay tuned—more to come in the next few days!
