Hit up Coleto Creek Sunday after a great weekend at Fayette last week. The morning bite was non-existent. Managed one runt bass on a deep crankbait in 13 foot on a ledge. Paddled down to the lower end of the lake and fished through hardwoods from shallow to deep and some rock rip rap for a couple of hours without even a nibble. Was starting to think I had made a bad decision in not going to Choke. Paddled back to the main part of the lake and started hitting the TP&W fish reefs and finally started catching on deep crankbaits over the tops. Caught a 22" on the one behind the reeds plus a couple of 1-2 pounders. Slipped over to the one by alligator island and landed another nice one at 21" plus some more 1-2's. Moved to the one in the corner by the dam and hit a 3 pounder. Thought for sure I would clean up on the big structure by the pier where I caught my 12 pounder in 2015 but only caught one dink there. Ended up with over a dozen bass, 2 over the 20" mark. Lures used pictured below...

So water levels looked normal for Coleto...about a foot or so below full pool where they typically keep it. I just wish the catching was as good! Knew it was going to be tough when the front beat me to the lake. Got there and north wind was already blowing with clear skies. Fished lots of my usual places without a nibble. After blanking out for the first couple hours I finally decided to try shallow and actually started finding small bass hitting with gusto. Just never found anything with any size. Managed 4 fish over 1 pound (only got to weigh 3 because one escaped prior to weighing).
All in all a tough day with north wind blowing my yak around but had to try for some of those DD's lurking in there...maybe next time. Pics of fish, weights & lures used below...

Hit up Coleto again Sunday. Tough day but some were biting. Heard from others on the water that Saturday was really good....of course! hammer

I caught either 9 or 10 fish, can't remember for sure, but most were dinks. Did manage a few keepers. Water was up about 6-9 inches higher than last time.
