4 days ago the local So Cal TV station KTLA reported that 4 million people were without power. That got me to thinking. What's going to happen when everyone is mandated to drive EV's? How are you going to charge your vehicle and escape a mandatory evacuation? What happens if everyone charges their EV's at the same time in preparation to evacuate? Is that going to take the power grid down? I'm also sure that all of this burning is not helping the air quality in the area. Are they going to blame the bad air quality samples on the fire fighting equipment like trucks, choppers and airplanes? What's going to happen when they are mandated to become EV's? If the aircraft use solar panels, that will take any kind of a night attack off the option table. We know they are already saying climate change is a major factor. California is one sick place. The state officials have their head so far up their arse they can't see the light of day. If this situation does not become a wake up call for So Cal then all hope is lost. All good points. Lets see if the loons take the red pill or double down on idiocy. You drive your car to where there is electricity? The same thing gassers would do since gas stations need electricity to pump gas. To allay your fears, by Wednesday afternoon the number without power was down to 1.2 million and the following morning it was down to 390k. No Allison, it isn't the same. RoadRunner's points are valid. No grid in a America has capacity to accommodate everyone driving an EV, when there are no outages, much less when there are outages. Many gas stations have emergency back up generators to supply fuel to traditional gas or diesel vehicles, it by far the better route until the grid catches up.
Then Allison, realize that you've merely transferred the CO2 emissions from the exhaust pipe to the power plant's smoke stack. Wind and Solar are not feasible options right now, everyone knows this, and until they are, we should not be required to turn in our real cars and trucks. Very few gas stations in Ca have generators.

Wind and Solar are not feasible options right now, everyone knows this, and until they are, we should not be required to turn in our real cars and trucks. Not everyone in America drives an EV so putting charging stations up to do it would be stupid. Why do you talk like that? There is not an adequate amount of charging stations but that is not uncommon for a growing industry like EV's. Texas is the nations top green energy producer with over 30% due to solar and wind. Even with using Natural gas which supplies about 45%, it still puts less CO2 into the atmosphere. So, patience grasshopper. We are in transition. Of course the argument you have made about not having enough to fuel all cars is correct, however we are changing, not there yet. You talk as if at some point there will be an almost immediate shift from one source to the other. Thats not how it works. and of course, lastly, nobody is being forced to drive an EV NOW. Even if they reach the goal of 2030 or 2035 for new EV sales, there will be mostly gassers on the road. You are talking about 30 or 40 years from now when you say all cars would be EV's. They might even find a different source of energy by then. Your arguments should make sense but they don't.

My niece is under orders to evacuate from her place in Sherman Oaks. She's a couple of blocks off the 405.
Currently holding up in a hotel in Anaheim.

This sorta stuff happens when you artificially build an oasis in the middle of a desert... Add that it's run by a bunch of loons and presto... Total devastation... Dan exactly ---been going on for 60+ years . and they plant tree's that struggle in that desert ---eventually becoming tinder . Eucalyptus tree's are giant and loaded with oil ----once they catch fire ...they are impossible to put out . Some get so hot they literally explode

Trees don’t explode in real life like they do in the movies. Exploding trees are fake. Ask an wildland firefighter who has spent any amount of time on the job.
A tree struck by lighting is the closest thing to a tree exploding.
Howie Long came clean and apologized to the wildland community after he starred in firestorm.
