All of the sudden I have interference on my Mega Live when I hit the power switch on Ultrex. Mega 360 works fine. I’ve tried changing the settings for the unit, no luck. Could it be the fuse in the head of the Ultrex? Why isn’t it affecting the 360? Stumped in Whitehouse!

Check all your Mega Live cables and make sure they are not touching any of the trolling motor power wires. Also, closely inspect your MegA live cables for knicks and cuts. If the cable insulation is damaged with the mesh exposed it can cause interference.

Call Hummingbird take video and send it tobthem and they will send you a new one . I just got through going this route for trolling motor interference .

Throw it in the trash and get a Garmin

Found the 3amp fuse in the Ultrex head blown. Gonna go out and see if that fixed it.

Need to figure out whats causing the 3 amp fuse to blow. That will be the problem.

I was putting off buying that Quest, might have to move that up like all the stuff we’ve done to our house!

Running the Ultrex at full speed for long periods will overheat and blow that fuse.
Fried mine years ago-now only run 8 or less for extended time.

Oh interesting. My live is starting get interference after 2 days of prefishing in the wind. Guess I will check mine as well.

The little fuse only grounds the motor housing to the pedal. When it blows, it is due to dirty terminals on the batteries, or a failing connection where the batteries wiring connects to the trolling motor pedal. A bad ground will force the motor to try and ground through the little wire and fuse. The fuse is only a 2amp fuse. If you raise this fuse rating, the wire will likely burn.

Look at the battery connections, battery internal health, and connections at the foot pedal.

Mines at toldeo fiberglass and installation right now. They looked yesterday and found the power cables to the fuse box were too small cause everything else works fine. They looked at all of it and told me that whoever installed all the cables made a mess so they are cleaning all that up and then I will take her out and hopefully see a big difference.

I started an electronics power upgrade project this evening. Running an 8 gauge backbone to my ancillary fuse panel I put in when I installed the Helix Electronics and will tie the Console graphs into that instead of the main harness.

I hope I found the problem, when I did my wire upgrade last fall I ran my Mega live power wire down the passenger side of the boat that the trolling motor power is on, my Mega 360 power wire runs down the other side of the boat. I did it that way because of the ease of running the wires, mistake I believe. Reran the ML wire and hope it fixes it. I’ll try it out when I can get on the lake later this week. Thanks Guys
