Buying a reel to throw arigs but also will use it to pitch jigs and cranks.
Looking at curado 300hg and lews bb1 or superduty. Anyone have experience with these.

Throw A-Rigs
Pitch Jigs
Cranks

That’s at least two reels. No experience with either of those reels. Great companies so I’m sure either/both will serve you well. Pitching will require a different set-up.

A-Rig / Deep Crank = 1 reel: Daiwa Tatula SV 150 or 200 7.3:1

Jigs = 1 reel: I would be using a Daiwa Tatula SV 103 8.3:1

Cranks (Mid / square / shallow) = 1 reel: I would be using a Daiwa Tatula SV 100 6.3:1

Me personally, I wouldn’t buy a tatula. I’ve got 2 of em and really disappointed. Can’t really go wrong with a curado

I would try to decide what you are going to use it for most. If you are going to use it more for arig and bigger swimbaits id go with a 300 tranx, but if I was going to do use it for cranks and jigs equally or more, i would go with a 200 curado.

Slow retrieve reel with 20lb flouro for me. Using the older gold calcutta 5:1 ratio reel. For slow rolling a spinnerbait & A-rig it is a perfect handle cadence which feels comfortable. With a fast retrieve reel it is strange for me to barely turn the handle, I like a slow turn rhythm. Old made in Japan shimano is the only way to go IMO.

How old are the Tatula's, what models and why are you disappointed in them? I have a fishing buddy that has several Tatula Elites and buys new ones every year. He said the last few he bought 2 out of 3 reels screamed horribly when casting. These are $250 reels, so he contacted a few people and found out that Daiwa was starting to use a less expensive bearing than the previous years to save money, so he no longer buys them anymore. The ones that worked good are sweet reels for sure.

I just bought a second Shimano 400 HG a couple of weeks ago... have been using one for 2 years, for both fresh and salt water, before getting the second one. I use them for throwing 5 and 6 inch swimbaits but think they would work well for throwing an A rig too.. I was a big fan of the Calcutta 300/400 for years.. definitely the same solid feel in the Tranx, smoother, and faster.. the one big knob is very comfortable to me.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

I've been using the Lews Superduty for years for exactly that, A-rig fishing and it has always been awesome. Never ever had a problem.

That Lews BB1 Pro is a MACHINE. I have one on my deep crank rod. It’ll sling a 6XD for miles and is butter smooth

They’re both maybe a year old, if that and they both do the exact same thing. One of em don’t cast worth a [censored] anymore either no matter how I adjust it

I use shimano and diawa, have about 10 Tatula/sv/elite/and cts. I have a couple of shimano mg 70s, 1 is curado and the other slx.
The tatula elites are great reels, and I had a screaming bearing which took exactly 1 drop of oil to silence. Some of the best bearings on the market scream like a banshee, but they also perform
