Heck I’ve been considering a FFS unit and I don’t even fish tournaments.

I’ve been thinking about getting on the YouTube gravy train, but cant decide on a channel name, and a few other details.

Yes, but this crews been using FFS since before those results. Comparing the last 6 years might give us an understanding of how much it changed, or didn’t.

Sure has... I fish a sunday afternoon tourney and I'd say at least 80% of the boats have it... Dan

I'd say 90% of those 80% don't know how to use it.

27-09 (March 2019) 24-11 (February 2016) 19-06 (February 2015)

2025 has 68 fewer entries than 2023, pretty significant drop in entries

It will be very challenging to doing anything statistical regarding pre and post FFS results. Too much changes. Water levels, grass/no grass, weather conditions, among other things.

The fact of the matter is there have been big bags weighed in at Rayburn this time of year for decades. FFS isn’t changing things as much as people think.

There are still fish on ledges, hard spots, in the grass. Deep, Shallow, and everywhere in between.

I'd say you're wrong... These are 12-15 boat, 3 fish tournaments... It's not unusual for the the Top 3 or 4 teams to weigh in 3 fish for 8, 9lbs... And we only fish for 4hrs... Two weeks ago we had a team weigh in 3 smallies for right at 14lbs... They said they culled 6 times... More guys are proficient with than you think... Dan

Have you ever fished in Texas? Not trying to be funny…..but we have had over 22 pounds three fish bags in 3 hour evening tourneys a few times. Biggest was 28 pounds three fish. I was about 50 yards from them all night and I zeroed
This was on a not very good lake.

Made me think about selling my boat that night. roflmao

So #'s may still be in decline. based on this, if we see other events go up in numbers maybe its just the BFL.

was just curious if the use of FFS had reached the weekend type tournaments yet?.....
was watching a replay of 2024 Redcrest tourny knockout round on Lay lake .every fisherman they showed was fishing offshore and i assume using FFS......fished this lake many times back in late 80's/90's and always did well flipping the bank grass around edge of lake...actually one BFL in early 90's I had the winning stringer but two dead fish penalized me back to 2nd place where I tied with Trip Weldon...we split 2nd place check & flipped a coin to see who got the trophy and I won it..

apparently to do well in a "every fish counts" tourny, you have fish offshore and try to locate a school of fish.....

We finally took the paper graph off and put on a lc520 for the jackpotter on lake Welch.

I think we'll see a lot of trails take a little hit this year. I'd bet a good amount of anglers are self employed. One of my good buddies in the home building industry went from just over 400 home starts in 2023 to right at 50 in 2024. I think you'll see people have to make some personal decisions on where they spend their money this year. I think that'll be the biggest driver if there's a decline in tournament participation.
