Very common in the ICU with brain injuries. We'd give IV Thorazine simply because hiccups can drive up intracranial pressures.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools

I had Hiccups for about 6 weeks one time they checked my heart with everything imaginable. They tried everything and couldn't find anything. I finally found a doctor who prescribe me a pill in about three hours my hiccups were gone. RayBob do you happen to know what that medication was? I am more curious than anything.

My money is on : Chlorpromazine, the oral form of Thorazine. There are a few other meds that can work. Seems Baclofen and neurontin are both possibilities but the thorazine was the gold standard treatment when I was practicing.

Just eat a green olive - hiccups gone. Think I've only had one time where it didn't work.

Breath, exhale, breath into a small bag. Ziplock plastic if you don't have paper will work. The idea being that you will be getting more C02. Obviously stop if you feel faint.
can "look it up" smile

Typically got 30 minutes to hours of relief.

BTW too much whiskey will cause the hiccups.
