Anyone been out on Lake Bastrop lately?
Going in a week or so and just wondering how its fishing lately.

I would like to know also. It had been fishing poorly for me the last times I have gone. It is expensive and time consuming to drive over 2 hours each way to have another bad day. Bastrop has not been the same lake in the last year and a half since most of the eel grass mysteriously disappeared.

I haven't been out there in about a month, but Iast time out me and a rookie ( I mean a REAL rookie) caught about 20 in 5 or 6 hours. Probably could have gotten to 30 if he knew a bit more. Senko wacky style, spinner baits, chatter baits on the outside edge of reeds and dropoff early. Flipping baby brush hogs in the reeds also mostly early. Flipping trees in 8 - 15 feet of water. If that ain't happening move out to the dropoffs and fish ned rigs or smaller baits. I'm probably headed there Saturday if the weather is decent. We're not catching hardly any over 2.5 - 3 pounds, but for winter fishing I'll take 20 for a half day anytime. Lots of 1.5 - 2.5 fish.
