I’m a frequent at $1-$2 games, tournament are a different animal. I’ve won multiple tournaments at local casinos but payouts weren’t extravengent. I did play the big wsop tournament held by the Dallas cowboys at their supper bowl party for the colts vs saints. Blinds were 25-50 and by the final table they were 1 million-2 million. Ended up chip leader going to final table and finished 6th out of 1000 ppl. 1st place was seat to main event  how many at the final table? 9. Ended up winning a $300 gift card to some Italian restaurant. The tourney was for a good cause and $50 buy in but I really wanted that main event buy in

I play in a home game with friends. Dealers choice. Hold em tourneys bore me. Alot of variety in our game. It's a limit game but can still win or lose a few hundred. Nobody has ever won or lost over 1k.

I play in a home game of rotating group of 12-20 guys/gals. We play Hold em with almost every Saturday night. Buy in is $50 with 2 rebuy limit. Payouts can get in the $700-$800 range for 1st. About 3-4 times a year we have a $100 buy in with a 3 re-buy limit. Those usually attract a few more players and the payout for the winner is in the $1500-2k range. After the main game, a few guys hang out for dollar games, dealer calls the game.

There's a few back room games around here that I've sat in on from time to time. The guys in these game have been known to play for houses, vehicles, oil leases, and land deeds just to name a few. It didn't take me long to realize that these boys are out of my league and a little crazy on top of that.
