Skunked on Granbury today too. Mega Live decided it was not in the water even though it was so would not turn on. But daughter caught a plastic bag on a rattle trap (shad color) with a dead shad inside so that is something I guess. Bad day on the water better than a good day in the office!!!

I stop at a fried chicken place and sit in truck eating to make myself feel better when this happens. I'm not saying it will work for you but it helps me.....

I listen to my fishing partner talk about what we did wrong, how we were almost there, how we should have won….hell…by the time I’m almost home, I’m ready to turn around and donate some more! roflmao

longest drive home I ever made was the 250 miles from Tuscaloosa to Albany,Ga. after losing the All American.....lost by 2 lbs because my 20 lb line broke swinging a 2 1/2 to 3 lb bass in the boat in the last few minutes...cost me $80,000. and no telling how much in sponsorships...

I’ve done worse. I lost a fish putting it in the weigh in bag that cost me a wire to wire win over a three day event. I was the only one in the top 12 without a limit each day. I had a 4 pounder shake outta my hand holding it up for a picture before stuffing it in my weigh in bag. Went right between the power poles and back into the abyss. roflmao
By the end of the event, I was less than 3 pounds outta first. Money and a new boat. Wound up 4th. Every day at weigh in, I’d get asked if I wish I had that four pounder in my weight! DUH!!!

My tip for the day? Never use conservation cull clips and never hold up a 4 pounder by one of ya do. It’s pretty embarrassing when it breaks the clip and goes bye bye. cheers

I've known a few that quit fishing because of times like this but for me the challenge to catch fish is what has kept me fishing for so many years. And especially when you see your better days behind you sometimes it makes me want to go that much more because the challenge is greater which makes it more satisfying if you have a good day. I also feel lucky that my number one priority has gone from winning to just the thrill of competing.

At least you were honest about zeroing on the day. Some people will swear they NEVER zero. I think if a person fishes more than a few times a year they will one of those days where it just doesn't work out.

Pro tip when it comes to hanging zeros. Leave at 1 so nobody sees you. Plus the chicken is fresher

when I lived in south florida, I fished Flamingo Everglades a lot.. 2 hour drive, best fishing I ever found... went close to 3 years without a skunk there, sometimes fishing until 10 pm just to keep my personal record intact.

Forget the year but on a Jan 1, blue moon I got skunked .
I did get this picture that day... left early as it was the best way to remember getting skunked there for the first time. bang

Best thing that could have happened as it reminded me that no one really cares if you get skunked or not.. roflmao

I usually do it at least once a year and if I fish in the winter regularly, even more, also have a lot of trips where I don't catch but one or two. It just happens. When Caney Lake was first opened in Louisiana I fished it while it still had green timber in it and catching 20 to 50 fish a day or more was not a problem but even with the bite that good you'd still take the ride of shame every once in a while.
