Been at the company 17 years. They used to do good bonuses when we started - I only got 50-100 bucks but 10-year engineers were getting 1000-1500. That ended 2 years in and they started getting us all thanksgiving turkeys.

Now an investor group bought up a bunch of our stock and got themselves a seat on the board and they got rid of the turkeys a couple years ago in the interest of “cost cutting”. Now we’ve lost enough good employees because of this kind of stuff that our new hires cost the same as good experienced employees plus a small bonus but they get a lot less done. All in the name of #capitalism and #meritocracy

we got an extra check. Salary gets a bonus in March... after the bean counters see if we made enough money in the previous year.

I pay quarterly bonus' regardless of the bottom line. The guys who work for me work just as hard during lean times as they do when things are booming and we don't do without so I make sure they don't either.

In 38 years of working for the same company, never got a "Christmas Bonus". If we had a good year, we would get a company performance bonus which could be very good (on a sales/profit good year). Our year end was in March so "bonus" would be in April.

We’re an employee owned Consulting Firm , seven employees / owners, our bonus is splitting the end of year profits at ratio of your yearly billings. Typically our highest earner will pick up an additional end of year check around 300k. We elected to refinish and refurnish the office and upgrade computers. Last weeks projection, we are splitting maybe $100,000+ this year.

Its been a long time since I worked for anyone. In my corporate time we went from 1 percent of your annual salary, to a Ham, mine got lost in mail so it was a 8 day old room temp ham...., we did a carving knife set once, logo glasses, logo bourbon glasses, a couple of different jackets with the logo, a laptop case with the logo, a backpack with the logo. Lol. When I had reached the point of sitting at the table with the big boys and had no fear of being fired as that would have been extremely expensive I brought up the issue and was told the reason for not giving money was the the idea that the managers made plenty of money the company felt like the managers would prefer to have something to remember the experience of being part of something..... roflmao

My wife got several 5 digit bonuses from the place she used to work. She got enough in bonuses to pay for our property and 1/3 of our house. Me I got a frozen turkey.

Bonus is March. It’s been pretty good the last several years. A company lunch between Thanksgiving and New Years.

When I started working in this industry our bonus was a month’s salary. The weren’t making a lot so you always appreciated and needed it around Christmas. We also had a company Christmas party one evening. That’s when they gave the checks out. They served alcohol so it went to a real party afterward. There were generally a few that got carried away. It caused a divorce or two. Balanced that with a few getting together. Those were some fun times. Everyone wasn’t so PC or worried about some legal BS.
