Could have been a disaster yesterday… just leaving house and looked in mirror to see my cat wanted to go.
I count three kayaks here. How many are fishing with you?
Duh.. 2. long story... met three young men that were leaving one of the Tyler city park ponds that was recently stocked with trout.. they were like real life Banker Always Fishing..from the bank.... they usually only fish EVERY DAY after work..for bass.
was telling them where I thought they would have the best luck this time of year and it wasnt any of the ponds they fished.
one of the three had bought a used kayak recently and the next thing you know we have a trip planned for two days later.. yesterday
Only two could make it as the one with dreadlocks was out of town.. they were all big fans of a guy in florida that fishes all the time....
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61550091641121Since I was going to have to bring an extra kayak on trailer, I told the one with a kayak I would bring one for him as well (he had a small sit inside).. anyway we were going to meet at my house, and they would follow me to Martin Creek.. knew we would have the best luck to catch something.. asked me if they could just meet me there as it would be further to drive if they had to come by my house first... I noted gas might be a problem..
I asked if they both had a fishing license.. neither did..
but they were thinking about getting them next year.
I decide we should go much closer to their homes in Tyler.. and suggest Neches River near Chandler... they like that idea much better..
Find out the one Im doing all the texting and talking to is soon to be a proud papa and this might be his last outing for a while.. wify is due next week..
As I make turn off 49 tollway headed into Chandler, notice game warden in my rearview.. I call my buds at the ramp and ask if they are fishing... nope. good meet me the DQ..for breakfast.. ended up I bought them both a fishing license... they told me the game warden pulled in as they were leaving.
Spoke to a hunting guide that was coming off the water at the neeches and he said its still early and not much going on so we went on over to Kickapoo ramp... paddled and fished for about 6 hours.. I never got bit.. one of the two guys lost one at the boat, small.. I was beat at the end of the day from wind... both of the guys want longer easier paddling kayaks.. they did great.
