I have a 19.5 foot boat and it currently has 36v TM setup. I had to replace the TM this year and found a used Ghost, so I can run either 24 or 36 volts. I'm curious to see how many guys who have a 19.5 foot boat are running 24v TM's? I don't fish any rivers with current and I'm just fun fishing and most trips are 6-8 hours, maybe 9 occasionally. I fish the wind a lot, but I'm not sitting on offshore structure for hours using spot lock. I probably need to disconnect one of my TM batteries and run it on 24v just to see the difference, but still would like to hear from guys running 24V on a 19.5 or 20" boat and if your satisfied with your setup.

8 hours in 20+mph wind and you would appreciate the 36V.

Recommend just keeping the 36v setup.

if you already have it I wouldn't change it. I run bass cat p2 which is 19 foot 1 inch with a 24 v 80lb ultrex and have zero issues. I fish offshore mostly and have sat in pretty good winds, stuff that will come over bow type stuff in spot lock all day and have had zero issues with 31 series batteries. When i bought the boat i initially told the dealer to go ahead and swap to 36v ultrex and he talked me into trying the 24v first. Its never been an issue.

I've never once thought I wish I had a weaker trolling motor. If you ever fish in thick grass you will want the 36.

Agreed. I've owned 3 Panteras over the years and all 3 had 24v system. I logged over 1,100 trips in a four year period. Never had an issue, and that was with old tech when the TM's weren't nearly as efficient as todays.

24 is plenty, 36 is even better.

How long till someone says 48v is the best?

I have a 24 volt on a 22’ center console. I have no problem with it, it pulls the boat great for all day fishing. With that said, there’s nothing wrong with more power. I’d just hate having to buy that third battery when they take a dump

Lol castledine has a video out pimping 3 36 volt lithium for the tm.... I'm not saying he doesn't need that. I'm saying 99 percent don't need that but need in fishing is out the window

I run 36v on my boat with the garmin force. I prefer the 36v because when I need the power I have it. My boat is 19.1 and it pulls it at 4 mph. Also 36 volts power enough for 2 days without charging

24v on a heavy slug Champion 19’8” and it works fine. Might eventually go with a single 36v lithium, but I have no issues with the 24v currently. I rarely have to turn it past 3 when fishing.

Thanks for the info guys. I have a slug Champion 196, so it's nice to hear "grout-scout" is fine with his 24v. It's not that I want to go weaker, it just boils down to $. Price of batteries, especially AGM's have gone up and I'm thinking possibly two lithiums, which is even more $, so if I could get by with two instead of three and I've got the TM that allows me to do that then it's just something I'm thinking about for the near future. A little weight savings and more room in the back compartment to work on things doesn't hurt as well.

I would have liked to bought "tmd11111" Antares, but instead, I have to start thinking about TM batteries and replacing 24 year old carpet and seats just to look respectable to you guys and your fancy rigs. I'd hate to think I would have to stop fishing 3 to 4 days midweek and get a job. Now if my engine goes, I'm SOL!

I have 2 regrets when buying my boat in 2018.

1) Not getting the Ultrex 36v
2) Not adding power poles, raptors, or talons

I have fished some windy days where my 24v struggles to keep me pinned and you had to be in the wind to catch fish. I would be off my mark, the the 24v would kick in and work it's way back. With my buddies 36v it holds better and would struggle less when holding locations in the wind.

Just throw some blood around in the boat like you actually catch fish. Most of the posts here were made by people who don't.
