The dude is one heck of a fisherman. One of the best on the planet in my opinion. He makes a living fishing. He's got one job. Step one of that job is having a fishing license. He deserves a bit of shellacking for being a knucklehead, but it takes some real mental gymnastics to turn this into something malicious. The charges are BS. He should take some hate, own the shame, and be issued a ticket. End of story. Trying to turn this into a felony is ridiculous.

IMO he should have solved the problem, told what happened and be on your way.
If he entered the contest, knew his license was not current, he should have dropped out of it like the other guy did.
