Not entirely true. You can buy an annual license any time of year and it expires a year from that date. Mine expires in July.

Can you imagine trying to keep up with licenses as a professional angler. So you have some states that its based jan-Dec 31st. Then you have some states that its a random day like Texas (Sept 1st- the start of dove season), then you have some states where its good for 365 days from the day you purchased. I imagine some more states have something even goofier that I am missing but I could see how it could get confusing when you literally fish all over the country and moved to a new state just 2 years prior and all these different states you are constantly fishing have different systems.

Reckon he doesnt have a cellphone with a calendar? Doesnt seem all that complicated.

State taxes don’t go towards TPWD. Then he uses state resources, paid for by citizens, to make his business possible.

Tell that to the businesses that depend on that income... Dan

I bet those businesses will start a go fund me for his ticket.

So give him a ticket for fishing without a license and move on. Sorry but this is stupid. No wildlife was even harmed here. No natural resource was harmed. Not a single person or organization was defrauded. To the contrary. A fish was taken to the hatchery and thousands more fish were produced. Then said fish was returned to where she was caught. So what is the horrific crime committed here? There’s not one. Meanwhile you have crimes like theft, murder, etc that nobody even investigates. Seems to me like that would be a better use of our “State Police “ aka Game Wardens than this. Stuff like this is a joke. If stuff like this is all game wardens do maybe we can save some money and just get rid of them. Maybe thats harsh but I believe it to be the truth.

This is why I was posting cause it does seem a little too harsh over a simple mistake when he generates a ton of revenue for the state of Texas

So at what point does your "status" put you above the law? Being a YouTube star doesn't mean you get to do whatever. This also isn't the first time he has "forgotten" to renew his license if I recall.

agree.....but with some people this is heinous crime that ranks right up there with failing to zip life jacket all the way up...

This thread explains exactly why tournament fishing is becoming a joke. The fact that integrity in this community is non-existent is really concerning. Why suddenly do we defend some people who break the law, or at the very least a tournament rule, and crucify others? There is no such thing as barely breaking the law or a rule. You either break it or you don't. It would seem that there are several folks on here willing to look the other way, which makes me wonder what sort of shad s**t you're doing on tournament day for that $156 club tournament check. We all knew fisherman are whiners, apparently alot of them are also cheaters.

I read somewhere that he was bringing illegals across the border to fish at Fairfield.

Doesn’t mean you don’t have integrity just because you believe the charge doesn’t fit the crime. Especially when what he is charged with is an imaginative stretch of the law. What he did has absolutely nothing to do with tournament fishing. Nobody would have a problem with him getting a ticket for no license. The rest of this charge is BS.

Looks like its real. Nacogdoches County.

The article said he caught the fish in February. I wonder how long he'd been without a license.
You can buy them at any time so it could have been a matter of days or 4 months.

I don’t know of a single tournament trail that would not ban you for breaking game and fish laws. Semi local anyway. I guess bass has a decision to make.

How many people do you know of that have been banned for bringing a short fish to weigh in, or blowing a no wake zone? A ticket from the game warden maybe, DQ'd maybe, but banned? Nah...
