The Beatles have their spot in music history. For me. I just couldn't ever get into their music. I guess it was probably good at the time. Revolutionary and all that stuff. Still just meh to me. Being murdered by a so called fan is F up.
Now the other guy murdered by a so called fan on December 8th though. His music Iis still some of my favorite. RIP Dime & Lenon. This is fair

Musical tastes are based on frame of reference. If you grew up during the time period when the Beatles came to America your reference is completely different. But that aside, the Beatles are the top selling pop band in history.
A lot of people like their music. Mr. Lennon's political preferences are not really important in that context and it's odd to see people argue about it.

Can't tell if you guys are having a little fun at Johns expense, or are really that uneducated about music. I love the Stones. But they probably wouldn't have ever gotten to the U.S. without The Beatles. Those guys literally changed rock and roll music in so many ways. Whether you liked them or not, give them their due. They took the rock scene, if that's what you want to call "rock around the clock", etc, from the 50's sound to Sgt Peppers. They were the first to use multi-track recording. John Lennon was the first guitar player to record feedback from a guitar. (intro to I Feel Fine) Music is subjective. Who's the best guitar player? Depends on who you like, what genre, etc. The Beatles even "gave" the Stones one of their first hits, I Wanna Be Your Man. Mick gave the rock and roll hall of fame intro for the Beatles. I didn't care for John's political views but I loved his music. I don't like Donald Trump as a person, but damn sure like him as our Pres. The Beatles, Stones, Zepplin...ALL rock. I agree Paul had the more successful solo career, but John put the Beatles together and was the mastermind behind it all. Rest in peace John. [/q
Like I said I’m not mad at the guy- I’m sure it will last forever- i just don’t think he is anymore important than a roofer or a car salesman or a plumber. I wasn't impying anyone was more "important". More influencial in all aspects of todays music no matter what genre you like. I don't like Tiger Woods personally. But I sure recognize his ability and how he influenced the game. As I said, "whether you liked their music or not, give them their due".
