As I get older I find that while I love visiting other states that it would be hard to willingly move somewhere else. Texas is far from perfect but even with our issues you can still enjoy life on your terms here. There still feels like a sense of independence and personal freedom here that is less prevalent elsewhere. I could probably enjoy north Louisiana, north central Louisiana, Alabama, parts of Tennessee and South Carolina. Maybe parts of Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Im thinking Oklahoma. From Iowa, I could live there too it's really a beautiful state, but I am not in love with shoveling snow or the wild humidity they have. An 80 degree there is worse than any day we have in Texas. Take Politics and Earth Quakes out of the pic and northern Cali seems beautiful.

You get around Sacramento as well as the coastal areas in NorCal you'll find a lot of folks that lean red. Sacramento is central to the Lake Tahoe area plus close enough to SF, the coast, Clear Lake and the California Delta that it would not be bad. Property value is not too crazy in Sacramento either comparatively. We love the coastal towns like Half Moon Bay, Moss Beach and that area plus farther up north near the Poibt Reyes seashore. Its the price of real estate in those places that make it a no go. We've spent a lot of time there and love NorCal. Yiu just have t9 choose your areas though as some of it is not great.

South Louisiana, got a lot of family there, and the fishing is unmatched. I'd have to think long and hard about anywhere else.
