To gborg......YES. To Prosise....yet another great annual thread. You practically pointed the fish out to me and I still couldn't catch them. User error all the way but I still learned more about Grapevine by listening to your reports. I think the best catch you had in 2024 was my rod/reel I dropped overboard.

I think it was made by shiner. I never paid much attention because my favorite kind of beer is cold

I ran into one of the usual suspects out on GV on Tuesday around 11am. He was out on Murrell point closer to the end catching fish, but you had to work for them. As crazy as it sounds there were loads of fish all over the point, and pretty much anywhere we were fish would come by under the boat. The weird thing is they were not in a eating mood at all, the fish we sid catch were intermittent catches. Now we did have some clear nights with the full moon, which one could say allowed them to feed at night. Mr R was using a slab with a inline spinner attached, and I think that bait was working better than others. I scaled down to the smallest cordell spoon made (with glow in the dark paint), and picked up fish here and there. The fish on the bottom were just being mean, and not cooperating. As it got later we moved out towards the end favoring the main lake, and there were many more fish up off the bottom in schools of a dozen or more. I pulled out a 6xd crankbait, and another that runs in the 10-14ft range and picked up some real nice ones. The crankbait caught the biggest fish for me. I think I heard Mr R say he was only keeping the 13+ fish, and he did limit out. He did go over by the island area and checked all the spots from the island to sandbass hump, but there were not as many fish over there. I would recommend dead sticking, bait, or the inline spinner baits. I would say I might have caught 3-4 vertical jigging, and 40ish casting out and working it back. If you have livescope, big donkey crappe are on the very small wood structure out in 25+, the big brush piles have little fish in large numbers. I caught some donkey crappie just off the deop at murrell. If you think you want livescope, you are right. If you ever want to see it in person, let me know. It's purely amazing seeing so much information when scouting. Wx this week was absolutely amazing, and wind was superb. Catching base during the night, and haven't put a green fish in the boat after 8am in 4 trips. This is prob my last update. These pictures are from Sunday and Tuesday of this week. God Bless all, and will see you on the water.. Pix of night fishing and some daytime shots

Great report Brent!
I got out yesterday (12/19) and fished some jugs while I casted for bass. Caught two blues at 5 and 8lbs and a small channel cat on the jugs. I had baited them with chicken breast and 15 feet seemed to be the depth they were hitting in. Blue cat are my favorite for eatin! Made a fine meal for the family.
Caught one big sandie on a 6xd and two small spotted bass on a jerkbait. Was fishing around Murrell park. Was a short trip, just a few hours.

I went last night - did zero preparation and boat was in shambles. As I was getting it ready, I realized I was a robbery target at 1 AM, so I decided to launch and finish all my prep on boat I finally had shad, boat prepped, and jugs all in water around 430 AM. Then I went and harvested 2 blue catfish and rebaited one. One of the cats had gotten super tangled so I pulled that one in for good. It was dark still and one jug down by scott's was nowhere to be found. Daylight finally happened and I started cruising the waypoints for sandbass. I found them at sandbass point but they didn't want slab bait under marabou jig vertical nor sawtooth. I tried for about 20 minutes and realized I should start looking for the missing jug and bring them all in. I did find the missing jug way out mid dam 100 yards out: https://youtu.be/q3yE55srf5c?si=FwN1NB-AHiPROFF_So, zero sandbass today, but i got 3 eater blues, 1 channel, and 36 lb blue released.

Great report!
I went and "tried" some jug fishing in the creek in the back of Scotts on Friday the 27th. If you recall it had POURED rain the day before so I was looking forward to the creek flowing and the cats being back in there taken advantage of all the new stuff washing in...
WELL, the only thing "washing in" was trash. TONS of trash. Was in my kayak and the drive kept getting jammed with plastic bags, bottles of all sorts, saw a spool of dental floss, condom (not in package), beer cans or all sorts, Styrofoam cups and coolers, you name it. And then not to mention the sticks and limbs and even what looked like a half a tree had been washed into one of the boat slips...
I take all my trash and try to take more but this would have been like peeing in the ocean... It was 1000's of items of trash flowing in. I grabbed what I had room for and put in the dumpster on the way out.
Did NOT have any bites on my jugs and did not have the nerve to try to fish for anything else in that mess lol. I was using chicken breast strips with soaked overnight in Strawberry jello powder and a bit of garlic salt... has always worked well for me when I cannot get shad or bluegill.
Props on the big blue cat! Did you place that jug in scotts and he went all the way out to the damn? Looks like you had two on there, you run double hooks on yours? How deep were those fish? Looked super shallow but could have been wrapped up making it look that way.
Thanks bud!

Jug was outside scott's in shallow water next to deep water. Just outside of where boats would exit toward dam.
All jugs were placed in 10 feet or less.
The game changer was getting a heavy net with half inch mesh. No shad at dock but had all I wanted on the sonar out deeper in 15 ft

Quick report from 2025... Hold yall over until Brent starts what I know will be an epic 2025 thread...
Went out Friday the 3rd in the kayak out of Merrill park. Was a beautiful day. Light wind, high around 60.
Fished a few jugs with chicken breast in 15-25 feet of water and only caught one small blue. Not big enough to mess with eating even. Also caught 3 small lmb and a drum on a jerk bait fished on the rocks. Saw quite a bit of bait in 25-30 feet but not much messing with it... Was a nice day.
Hope yall had a great new year. See you on the water soon!
