My Google Earth shows the latest images were taken 1/9/2024 and it looks like nothing has happened in a while.

I bet the fishing is pretty good right now.

popcorn I've seen some developments like this fizzle. Usually the investors butting heads. I've seen some wait on economic change and had one where I was raised fail because they didn't have the clientele in the area to support it.
There was a development built back in the late 80's north of Monroe, Louisiana that was built on a bayou with an Arnold Palmer golf course. The developers just put infrastructure and were trying to sell lots around the golf course and bordering the bayou. Back in those days you could buy a really nice house for what they were asking for lots and with the economy being what is there it crashed and burned. Bankruptcy eventually ate the whole thing.
Unless the developers and investors have a falling out I figure this Fairfield thing will eventually go.

They should take all of these old coal plants and put in Nuclear Reactors! They already have the cooling water and infrastructure they need! There is only a small chance of a meltdown!

Don’t know that it’s true but who knows.

If what some of the others are saying here that could possibly happen.
Have the north area bought with eminent domain for a nuclear power plant and the rest remain in his possession.

I don't know if there have ever been any powerplants built on a private lake so they might try to open it back up.

Chinese are out and it was refinanced soon after the court scam. New perimeter fence and new Swiss Chalet entrance where the old check in was. About 50 lots traded hands so far, five or so, to trust fund idiots spending daddy’s money and the rest to Dallas socialites or Attorney’s that helped him cheat the State and the taxpayers, thanks of course to the imbeciles at the TPWLD and the Senator he paid off. The forest and everything that made Fairfield a special place to visit has been bulldozed. No idea on the lake condition, or if they have killed all the grass yet for jetski lanes and sail boats…lol. So far no sight of Tiger Woods or Ben Crenshaw, but I’m sure to run into them at Subway very soon.

Rhetorical question….Since the property Todd bought for a100 million, then a few months later, was magically worth 400 plus million, why on Earth is Monticello sitting on the market unsold at 131 million? Very similar property without all State Park drama? Why can’t the same realtor and seller find another Chinese developer?

Monti is not equadistant between DFW and Houston.

Also, there is a lot of private land already surrounding the lake……at least half of the property bordering Monti is already private.

It is also now permanently 5 feet low and is now essentially a creek arm of Sandlin.
Don’t think the water could be privately owned and manipulated like Fairfield.

I think whoever buys the plant property will be able to control the dam. I want it sub-divided. I''ll take a few acres in the old park and cut a permanent channel between Monticello Cove and the Lake. Or just 2 acres where the spillway is and remove it... If we aren't getting a nuclear plant, open up the dam like they did Lewisville/Dallas.

The plant and the surrounding land was sold last year to a company that was going to demo the plant. Nor sure they were going to develop the land around the lake that they acquired or not. They had plans for the plant site is what I was told by a Vistra employee

I do business with the company that is doing the retaining walls. They have been building retaining walls on the lake for 6 months and say they will probably be on site for at least another year. He also said a crew was hired to remove all the timber in the creek arms of the lake. Sounds like the checks getting written to contractors are good. So the funding must be solid to this point.
