My brother is a land man, we were talking today and he called BS on the majority of it, as in what a land man actually does vs. the portrayal in the show. He does negotiations and acquisitions and title research, but none of this John Wayne nonsense in the show. He also sleeps in his own bed in Aledo every night. He did say that the facts and figures Billy Bob spouted off about money is pretty spot on, so I guess there's that.

It’s entertaining so far. I don’t expect any of Sheridan’s shows to be true to life, but I find several of them entertaining, usually well written, well casted and the acting is usually pretty good.

Of course that has changed recently with a lot of their work being available online and through remote access. They still travel a lot, but it is less than it once was.

In-house landmen are handling acquisitions/divestitures and all biz to biz aspects. The field guys are out chasing leases, ROW, etc.

The only real things in the show so far are Ratliff Stadium and the Midland skyline at the end of Episode 2.

He spends the majority of his time in courthouses and online chasing ownership and lease potential. Not as 'glamorous' as the show makes it out to be but very fruitful if you're good at what you do.

I've watched the initial 2 episodes.... they're OK. Billy Bob plays a great smart@ss, but, in the real world he wouldn't last long.... Hollywood...
