I am trying to rig a hover rig properly but every bait I try rolls. I have several different types of baits, everything rolls. Any advice?

The knot, pull it upward so that the line is pointing upwards. It responds better if the part of the hook that points upward is longer. If you temper a hook to bend, you will need to re-heat treat it so it doesn't bend easily. Or you can buy hooks specifically for the hover rig. This helps me on the spinning reel setup.

Try rigging it with a treble with the tines coming out the bottom. With the eyelet to where you have that one.
Got a big water pitcher? You can also just use the sink or bathtub. Stick it in water and see how it acts.

It is a caffeine shad, but I tried paddle tail baits and no action tail baits

Your hook is too far back. Go back about a half inch from the nose, maybe 3/4 inch. You want that hook towards the front.

Move the initial spot to the nose of the bait then back a little bit. Run the hook as shallow as you can. The deeper you run it the less the bait will pivot and tilt
When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip! #Brockstarama
