Interesting morning on the Vine. Fished from 8am to noon from the kayak. Put in at Murrell Park. Caught 4 lmb on a jerkbait (not big), two Sandies on a crankbait (not big), and 4 blue cats on chicken breast (bigger!). Beautiful day! Kept the two smaller cats. Had one that went over 20! It was a dang handful in the yak so no pics. He swam free. Wife made a wonderful blue cat fish curry out of the cruiser weights and still had plenty to give my neighbor. Everyone likes when you bring them fresh fish... Least everyone i like lol

Nice trip Dan and cool pics Prosie Thank you sir! The catfish seem to be biting pretty well right now. Going to try to get back out there this week if I can sneak away from work. Weather looks a bit up and down this week so we will see. Prosie, bud, you hooked that boat and got it to float!? Then pulled it into shore? That is unreal. Like if someone just told me that and had no pictures or a reputation such as yours I would call BS all day. Well done! I hope you find the owner... If you do they will not be shocked to say the least I bet. That boat was in Daveys locker. To never float again. Very cool! Keep up posted.

I dragged it up into knee deep water, then flipped it. Then dragged it up more and flipped it. To heavy out in deep water .

55 gallon oil drums, chain, and a gas powered small air compressor works wonders, especially if you scuba dive.....many stories to tell.....

Damn. That's still on the list: catch a boat
Some people just like catching. I like fishing.

I guess "not rotting" counts?

Can't believe it, I ran into tons of sandbass on sandbass hump. This is the hump out off the west main point of scotts, but they were not cooperating. I put on a single small cordell spoon and they liked it. They wouldn't touch the medium spoon. There was a tremendous amount of fish all around the hump, and out in the 30ft depths but they were not actively feeding. I could get them to react to the small bait, but they are roaming in large schools on the bottom. Green fish bite during the daytime is brutally tough, sonI have been fishing nights. The little boat in Scott's is gone, so hopefully it will get some use somewhere. Water is getting cool, lower end was 58-60, Meadomere was 55-56f.

There are times I get more bites on chicken than on shad. There are guys on you tube who catch lots of big blues and use nothing but chicken breast. Many will cube it up and cover it strawberry jello powder and let it set overnight. Not sure why it is but that actually seems to work better than just raw at times. Its always easy to get (unlike shad), fairly clean to deal with (your hands wont stink), and if you dont catch fish, well you have dinner anyway Just be mindful of washing you hands well after handling. Would not want to touch your lips and get sick from handling that raw chicken... something to mindful of is all.

Hybrid Stripes like em also !!

Hybrid Stripes like em also !! Livers are for sure an old classic. I dont mess with it. Wont stay on the hook and I dont want to mess with wrapping it in panty hose and all that. I have tried gizzards. They stay on the hook REALLY well. Hard to get them off. Caught fish on them but not nearly as good as breasts. Not something I would suggest but hey, give it a try, your experience may vary. My favorite for blues, in order, bluegill heads, gizzard shad, chicken breasts, threadfin shad and... thats about it. The deal with breasts is #1. They work #2. They are easy to get... always. #3. They are pretty clean. I usually buy any of them I can get on "manager special" that are about to expire anyways. If I do not catch I can cook the chicken that night at home

Lakeguide showed me that chicken hearts were his bait of choice for blues. It has worked well for me on Belton. It is one more option.
