I've totally stalled and reached my limit of low carbing. Going to a low fat diet for a change. Sure is a different mindset.

I couldn't do either, that's why I do the Mediterranean diet. 33% protein, 33% carbs, 33% fats. I've kept the weight off for over a year. I can't exercise anymore due to the head injury and the resulting issues from that...which I miss more than I would have ever thought, but I've kept the weight off still by just counting my macros. I wish you well and hope it goes great for you. I'm proud of you for sticking with it!

Doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is calorie amount. It doesn't matter if you're eating nothing but bacon, zero carbs. Or if you're eating nothing but fruit.

Low carb diet says you can eat any amount you want. As long as it's low carb. Which is a way for people to beat being hungry by eating a lot of low carb.

I'm sorry but none of that works in the long run. The only thing, no matter what you eat, is calorie amount. You have to learn that being hungry is natural. When the body is hungry it means you're cleansing fat. Your body is purging toxins and sick cells. Being hungry is a natural state of being. You have to learn to cope with it.


If you want to lose weight. Stop eating so much. Here's a calorie calculator. What'll it take to lose weight. What'll it take to maintain it. Because there's no other way around it,

Yeah, no. I've lost 128 pounds and kept it off...while calorie count is part of it, for me paying attention to my macros is what truly mattered. Every person's physiological makeup is different and what works for some will not work for others.

You are both correct however if you do not burn more than you take in you will neve lose weight....regardless of macro counts.

Too many people focus on the scale number rather than the inch loss. That number on the scale will play with your head if not careful. Judge success based on blood work, how you feel, and how your clothes fit.

Macronutrients. What the food you're eating actually consists of. So yeah you're getting 1000 calories, but what are they from? Fats? Proteins? Carbs? Every person's body will digest/use things differently. I do not function well on just high protein/low carb. I need a mixture and paying attention to what the food I ate was made of made all the difference.

thanks --appreciate your explaining . My wife and I went to strictly whole foods ---nothing processed , nothing packaged , all organic , zero sugars . Our blood markers have greatly improved and the weight just melted off . I spend way too much time researching health topics --- get's overwhelming . But it's totally worth it

Well, yeah, that's 33% of the food I eat. 33% protein, 33% carbs, 33% fats. I eat avocados, nuts, etc. for the fats.

I've lost 14 pounds in 4 weeks. Smaller amounts of food, and pretty much keto. I still eat plenty of veggies, just not much starchy stuff. NO ALCOHOL is about to kill me! But, being fat is just not an option. Bad knees and bad back can't handle 30 pounds around my gut! I cheated a little at Thanksgiving, but am back at it this weekend. 204 down to 190, headed to 175. If you get a chance maybe ask your PCP if they can recommend a nutritionlist. Some insurance policies pay for it much like a yearly physical etc.

Your health is way too important to trust to bro science. Respectfully some incorrect information has been shared on tbis thread. No two bodies are the same. It's not always a one size fits all approach.



A calorie is not just a calorie. A nutritionist can work off your personal health history and get you on the right track.

true statement for sure . Go get a DEXA scan and find out where your fat is and what total % it is . If it's visceral fat ( around your organs ) --- you should do everything possible to lose it quickly . Best way to be healthy is for your organs to be functioning at a high level . I removed all sugars from my diet January 2024 , also , no fast starches ( pasta , rice , breads , cooked potatoes ) lost 13% of my total weight without even trying . The results are amazing to how I feel --- and I don't miss the sugars ( that took about 30 days )
