We'll just have to settle for some pictures of her kid. Yea his hair is getting long. The men in the house have long hair but we don't wear lipstick.

We got on the water around 10:45 and we went straight to the point in front of Northshore trail. There were 4 boats lined up across the best ridge, and they were catching them steady but slow compared to recent days. I couldn't see much of them on the sonar, so I saw that prosise had messaged to come up to the humps:

Link courtesy of Prosise who generously asked that I share.

When I got there he was very gracious to my wife and kid and even lent them an umbrella. We tied up and took advantage of his spot lock. From there there were lots of two at a time caught. Several times both fish were 13+. It was one of the fastest days i have seen. We were able to get the wife a license, a good time, and had to leave because we hit 50! I always act like i ain't counting. But that's just me being an actuary. I can't mess up a number like that. Too embarrassing.

Anyhow, the wife loves fish and we will eat every last bit. We probably won't keep any until we are almost out again. Which brings us to the dinner pics. We did headless smoked white bass with bang bang seasoning, rice, broccoli, and soy vinegar onion dipping sauce. 350 for 20 mins on the preheated pit boss, be sure to score your fish with a sharp knife!

25 mins suggested if they are biguns.

After we left, prosise stayed after and got into the catfish and the great big sandbass bite continued. I have included some pictures he sent as well. He was running his two spoon setup you can see earlier in the thread. In fact he lost one that had been tied on there for a year and a half. Which if you know prosise is not surprising. I believe he went back and got it after I left too. Anyhow he said the cats were hitting both baits. Woulda loved to hung a few!

Thanks prosise your fishing evangelism may have helped win my wife over a bit today. On the creeks and off the streets.

So you went old school with those fish?
Gutted and scaled them?

They look delicious…

Heh thanks. I always do a handful whole fresh smoked. Wife loves it. The rest got fileted. I fried about 20 filets and fed family and my fishing buddy Saturday. Then we went out on granbury and got skunked. But we ate fish all night!

I plan on going Wednesday. I read tpwd report said they were in shallower water. Will see!

Going out Tuesday for sure, and Wed tentatively. If anyone is out and looking for sandbass after 10am, send me an IM and I'll send some info if I find them. I am prob fishing really early for the green fish and will switch if it's slow mid morning. If you have not entered the waypoints into your graph of the list that was compiled in posts many pages back, it will really help you. Wind has been kind of high last few days, so I'm expecting some dirty stained water. Wind will be light next few days and cooler with the front. I totally forgot to mention that there were about 60 pelicans on the upper end on the last cool snap. The birds are moving down, and you can see allot of really cool birds this time of the year on the upper end. I have seen bald eagles the last three years on a row. They are not a bird you see with others, solo and you really have to keep an eye out for one. If you see a large bird that looks like a buzzard swoop down on the water look closely. Throw some binos in the boat, you will be happy when it happens. I use mine nearly every trip, if I think I see something that looks like a lure on the bank I verify with the binos. If you see any fishing line on, or around the area you're fishing or launching (please pick it up). That's a migratory birds worst nightmare, and easily avoidable little things that will help them. Most stay away from the main lake, and typically stay away from "US Monsters", but you will see many in the next month. Cormorants will be coming thru in flocks which could reach numbers greater than 500 easily, and I have seen some that looked twice this size. They will find bait, and push it up into creeks & coves to corner them and push them shallow. Take care all, and hopefully will have some info in the next few days. If anyone knows of an outfit that might be interested in buying a bulk lot of bumpers, I have 63 in all sizes that I am looking for a buyer. Waiting on a marina response, if they aren't interested will go to the next on the list.

Keep an eye out for the Cormorants, best bait finders on the water

I plan to fish tomorrow and hope to see you out there.

You may remember the picture of the Yamaha boat hard aground that Prosise posted a while back. Yesterday, I was on Reddit in the Boating sub and saw the video someone from TowBoatUS posted on recovering it. Here is a screen shot from the video

I am almost 100% sure this happened at night. Only way I can figure you get a boat that far up the bank... Also cannot imagine that no one was hurt. Ejected seems like a given...

Back to fishing though. Was hoping to get out Friday but weather looks poor at best. We will see. I got some "MAL" lures from one of the members on here and cannot wait to try them out! Also do not like fishing in the kayak in rain and storms though so it might have to wait.

I did catch a new lake record Sandie on a lake up in Oklahoma last week! I will be submitting that. Fish was 16inches. So a dink for prosise smile That fish was caught while bass fishing on a crankbait. Pretty cool.

According to the posting on reddit, they were shaken up but ok. Crazy!

Hey prosise, I enjoy reading your fishing reports.

What knot do you use for main line to leader? I spent a lot of time practicing the FG knot, trying different methods that have been posted on youtube. None of them are easy. So I gave up a couple years ago.

The main problem I have is finding a knot that is small enough that it doesn't try to hang on the smaller eyes at the end of some rods.

Lake is pretty stained. Birds are everywhere, and in the morning they will tell you where the Sandbass are feeding. They were working hard near the island at 8am. Green fish was ok, caught fish and lost a giant at the boat. Might be some tears when I settle into bed, or nightmares for a couple days. Have som video of her next to the boat, and she was very impressive. Sandbass were not on upper lake humps, murrell, or the humps north of the island mid-day. Bait is being pushed up shallow and into the creeks, so they are prob up shallower than I was looking. I found a huge schools just east of the island, and the numbers were staggering. Only thing was they wouldn't entertain the vertical jigging at all. Prob need to go-to a inline spinner bait, tried casting and dragging thru them but they were not having it. Was very strange compared to the morning where I was burning a deep diving crankbait thru them in 10-15ft and whacking them. Cool video recovering the jet drive boat. If that would have been a stern drive boat, It may have been a much different outcome for the "Village Idiot". Lake is getting low quicker that I thought it would. Take care all, not fishing tomorrow as I'm doing needed chores and getting 100lbs of beef for the freezer from Mr B.

Found another boat just west of Dove ramp. It was too heavy for me to lift the front off the bottom.

I caught a few more nice ones on the crankbait then went back to bass fishing. Moved away from the sandies that had the fish finder screen filled. My buddy (seen in the back) moved in with a kastmaster spoon jigging it slowly off the bottom and really cleaned up on some nice ones! He kept about 10 and gave them to me. Sandbass are tasty IMHO!

These fish were shallow. In about 10 FOW. TWO of them I cleaned had small bluegill in their stomachs! Pretty wild.
