We have family in Kansas City that visit us every other year. Kind of a every other year family reunion. It consist of 5 adults and 2 teenage girls. We have done the Corpus, and Galveston hotel stay beach thing, yet I was hoping for something a little different come this get together at spring break. My thoughts are for us to rent a houseboat for 3 or 4 days in Texas or maybe Oklahoma. Getting frustrated with my search, something I usually am pretty good at. Most sights are just engines that send you to other sights and then ask where you want to rent and what you want to rent, after you have already searched for exactly what you want. Any suggestions for a place to rent a house boat are much appreciated...Lawton

Some people go to church and think about fishing. Some go fishing and think about God.

We have thought about doing the houseboat rental thing. I would love to rent one on Lake Ouachita.

One of the best family vacations we’ve ever had was 8 days with an 80’ five bedroom house boat on Lake Ouachita in Arkansas. The entire lake is national forest so other a couple marinas there is absolutely no development of any kind on the lake. Big, beautiful clear water lake with dozens of islands. I towed my bass boat behind the houseboat for some early morning/late evening fishing and we tied the boat up to a different island every night. No shortage of house boat rentals on Ouschita.

We did the same thing with our family a few years back and it was great. Yes, it's beautiful and no houses..ANYWHERE!! Pristine. Lake is crystal clear. I took my bass boat up as well, but fishing was pretty tough. A cool slide from the top of the houseboat to the lake for the kids ( AND us big kids!), plenty of room on the boat. And you can park anywhere you can find a place not already occupied by...another houseboat!

One thing to consider if you're going to Lake Ouachita in the spring...water will be pretty dang cold!!
