Just saw that Kathy and Jimmy have decided to sell Brannans Bass Shop in Powderly. She has been at it for 43 hrs. Wish them all the best but hate to see it sell cause they took care of you if you had a problem with anything you purchased there. Good luck to them and it was and hopefully will still be a helluva good place to buy tackle. Been a customer myself since 1984 or longer

I think you meant 43 years.
They are great folks! I hope the new owners are just as good.

Great shop, found lures there I was in search of over the years you could find nowhere else. I have a shaky head rod bought in 2004 from there that is absolute magic, its put more keepers in the boat for me than any other setup I own 2 to 1.

The smell of the power baits in the original location would make me gag, but it was and always will be my favorite tackle shop lol. They were always way, way ahead of the curve.

Going there as a kid used to be one of my favorite things to do. Now, it's one of my kids favorite places to go. It's one of the best tackle shops I have ever been in. Great people and I hope whoever buys it is just as good as Jimmy and Kathy!

They were the only ones that I found to have 6" Larew Hawg Craws Blk/Blu, bought them by the 100 they sent them in a big Ziplock bag. Visit the store probably twice a year for the last 25-30 years. Hope new owners are as good!

There was a point in my life where I was fishing two three days a week or better; single then and could direct my budget any way I saw fit. I used so much soft plastics that anything that I used regularly I bought in bulk: by the pound, and you could do that Brannon's, seemed like Barlow's, and Toledo Tackle in my home town of West Monroe. I guess they quit offering that at the wholesale level because you don't see that at the retail level anymore. I miss that for sure. I used to buy Tequila Sunrise ribbon tail worms 5 pounds at a time or better. I spent a lot of money at Brannon's back in the day. I worked with Jimmy for several years and he worked at Brannon's all at the same time. He probably rarely had any down time back then. He and his wife need to finish their years enjoying life. I get it.

Kathy is the best. She knew her tackle and when something new would come out on the market that everyone wanted, she would be the first to have it in the store. No one else ever had the new stuff before she did. If you were looking for something, Kathy could always find it and get it for you. Sounds like Kathy and Jimmy are ready to retire and spend more time with the grand kids. Best of luck to the both of you.

I fished many of their Customer Appreciation tournaments throughout the years and was always one of the most fun tournaments of all. They really cared about their customers.
