I had a friend whose wife slept with everyone in the dealership that she worked for. Till she was “finance mgr”. She was dumb as a brick. He’s long since been divorced. He got the kids, the house, she paid off his boat….feel bad for the guy, he’s really a pretty good guy. His ex? Not so much.

I’ve bought my last four vehicles from a guy named Jeff Cole. He is the internet manager for Freeman. I tell him what I want, he says I’ll have it ready by “x” date….or once he said “I’ll bing it to you in an hour”. I always said “how much?” He say “cheaper than anyone else”. He was always right. My last couple were my Tundra and my son a Corolla..hey we’re brand new…and he works for a HONDA dealership. The one he delivered was a Pilot for my wife. That took about 10 minutes. He brought he SUV and paperwork for me to sign. Then asked for a ride back to the dealership. Haha. My mom and I ordered a 2025 Mustang from MacHaik. On of the forum members here is the GM. We will write a check for the total….i hope I doesn’t “go south”. My mom has a short fuse, and mine is even worse. So far, it was a good experience. They are just cars. Nothing else. It’s just like buying any other appliance. They ain’t robbing you, till you give em the money. Don’t get robbed is my suggestion. My fridge went out... can I borrow that 56 chevy?

I can’t believe so many would admit to being car salesmen. Plus there hasn’t been a single penthouse forum worthy story. I had one but ended up marrying her, ended that fairy tale

I mentioned the package of charging cables because despite all my diligent crossing off of stuff that slipped by me on last track. They listed it as upgraded charging station. The truck did have alot of plugs so I thought it was just that. Then after I get truck home I find a baggy with 4 or 5 charging cables in it.... none of which fit my phone by the way. 295 bucks lol. Tricky folks over at shotenkirk.... I left Schottenkirk, I had gone 3 times looking at a Tundra. I could tell they were shady so I went to Family Toyota in Burleson. The same exact truck, Black Tundra with the blackout package and got it for $5,300 less than Schottenkirk.

I recently helped daughter buy a car. When I told the guy we weren't paying 2500 for the tint they installed and the clear stickers around the door handles he was shocked. It took a bit and a walk around the parking lot with sales manager but we got that removed. But this dealership doesn't charge over sticker lol. Dealerships make the buying experience what it is, a total pita. You either have to be a total a wipe with them or you end up being a mark. $2500 for tint? That's criminal. Have you seen the interest rates for BHPH note lots???

When they wouldn’t remove the bs charge of $2,4000 for tint, door ding, specialized air bs I told them “this sux, we used to battle this [censored] with the finance guy in the next room” Now they just add it to the tab and say it can’t be removed

Some quick points. Remember these are from my own experience at a local Toyota dealer.
1) The dealership flooded the floor with salespeople. We had 5 teams, with probably 5-6 people on each team. The thinking was simple: either sell or you won't be there for long. You had to make minimum wage. If you were doing poorly and the dealership had to pay a salesman out of the company coffers, they weren't around long.
2) The dealership swung all of those BS packages that they could. Undercoating, window etching, nitrogen in the tires. It just infuriated the buyers. I remember a guy coming in with low air pressure in one of his tires and wanted it to be filled with nitrogen. The service people just sat there with stupid looks on their faces. There wasn't any nitrogen. I doubt if any dealership actually has any.
3) I had a guy that constantly worked overseas with his wife. He wanted to buy her any Toyota she wanted, decked out. I made $700 on the deal.
4) Our "mini" was $75.
5) Every weekend there was a "sale." Yippee. The dealership would stick a few Camrys/Corollas in there with some ridiculous price. Of course, the next day, customers would come in looking for those cars. "They were just sold."
6) About 99% of the time the salespeople are not the crooks. It's all of their bosses.
7) If you can survive in the business long enough to get established and make some real money, you can do well. There were probably on 2 or 3 guys that made their own deals.
8) "Spiff" is considered income and was taxable. I never took any.
9) Saturday's lunch was always good.

I had a blast. The hours sucked but there was moments. Company trip to Waco to get training. Hitting every strip club on the way back.
Funny how it all works. I hate Dodge with a passion but made the most money selling them.

I had a friend that was a salesman at his granddads dealership in Abilene. He broke his ankle and couldn't walk well. At the time I was hauling hay for a living and he offered me some $$ to be his lot guy to retrieve customers and bring them to him for the final sell. I knew this was a shady dealership since I knew the grandson and what he had talked about in the past but it was in between hauling times so I said sure why not. There was a young couple just out of H.S. with a baby on the way. A really nice couple but of course my friend tried to rip their heads off but couldn't get the kids bought. The dealership next to them was offering a new I believe it was a Honda civic for $8484 or something along those lines. It was a plain jane nothing added 4 speed, only option was A/C. They decided to go try and get that one instead. They signed all the paperwork and drove it home. After their parents read over the contract the "sale price" was over $13k. They took the car back and made a huge stink and I believe even got the news involved. I know all of this because they come back an ended up buying a used car fro my friend and told us the whole story. I stopped helping my friend after that because I just felt it wrong trying to bury people and take advantage of them.
Yes I understand everyone does it but that doesn't make it right.
