Dealerships make the buying experience what it is, a total pita. You either have to be a total a wipe with them or you end up being a mark.

$2500 for tint? That's criminal.

They also charge $500 for anti-theft lug nuts. A set of them costs about $12 and they take about 90 seconds to install. 2-1/2 minutes if you don't have an impact driver.

I always carry a red pen in my pocket when I buy a car. Take that contract they place in front of me, and just start lining out the BS.

Well it’s a broken model- salesman have zero power to make an actual deal from what I’ve seen so they are basically there to educate you on vehicle features and be a messenger of the sales manager. The problem is most folks know more about cars than salesman anyways so I don’t even see the point of dealing with them.

Believe it or not, they spent a lot of money to get you into the dealership. The sale manager at a franchise store is for sure going to ask if they are missing you somewhere and try to put something together.

Oh I get all that- but why not have the salesman do it? They are nothing more than a carrier pigeon for the sales manager and a punching bag for the customer.

One of the reasons we do so well. Someone come to see me they know everything buy the time they are done with me. They know exactly what the payment, rate, etc. All the have to do is accept or decline a warranty and leave. I had a guy tell me he was in a hurry one time. I told him we could do the whole deal in 30 min and we did. I don't suggest buying a vehicle in 30 min but it was pretty easy. He came back that week and brought me a 100 dollar gift card.

Red Ranger gave me a tip tow different times, I gave it to the guys in the back. Kevster brought me 2 Wagyu Ribeyes. That did NOT go to the guys in the back.

The last truck I bought at Jerry's before shotenkirk bought them took just under 30 minutes. In fact I bought 4 vehicles from Jerry and was never there more than 45 minutes. It's different there now.

One of my friends was Hird to kind of groom the owners son a bit. They spent a LOT of time on private jets visiting dealerships primarily in the south and midwest.

I once sold a Dodge duelly at sticker. Bright red SLT trim level. Cummins, standard transmission. 4 door.

I showed him three prices. Only thing taken off was the rebate from Dodge. Got a commitment signature. When the sales manager saw the deal. This guy was bumped up to next in line.

My cut was $750 on the front. Forgot what the back was. It made my month. I removed this guys head and he did nothing but smile. Rebates are sneaky if you don't know what you're doing. Especially for the next 7 years of payments.

Keep telling the financing stories. I'm taking notes.

Interesting stuff. I always thought the sales people made much more in commission.

Yeah that’s not much money for hookers and blow.

10% front. 15% back.

The bulk of the money comes from how much the finance manager can get. Usually, you only make a, 'Mini'. $100 per vehicle on the front end.

I can’t believe so many would admit to being car salesmen. Plus there hasn’t been a single penthouse forum worthy story.

Some of us did have a heart. I once told an old lady looking at a Dodge neon to run and don't look back.

She was too easy.

In the movies, hot car saleswomen will bang you during the test drive. Where can I find a hot car saleswoman?

I don’t think a car salesman is any worse than other professions. Guys gotta feed families, it’s really the dealership sales model that’s the problem

This year Iwill make slightly less than I did when I was 24, and I turn 44 in a month. But now everything cost 2x as much and I have three kids.
